ok guys. iam 18 years old and want to start drifting a s14. iam really interested in buying from an individual on this forum but i need some advice. currently i drive a 81 corolla but i need something a little bit newer like an s14. iam thinking of purchasing a 98 for 7.5, 150k on chassis and 104k on the engine. It is a stock ka 5spd with some minor mods (just exhaust). As technically speaking this being my first car, I need to know how reliable are ka motors that already have 104k miles on the engine to be my daily driver? and with opinions is the car worth it? pm me for link and lemme know what you think.

thanks. charlie

hey i bought my 240 2 years ago with 100000 miles on it. i have put 22000 miles on it. the only problem i have had is my rpm gauge is not working. my bro has one and it has over 140000 on it. i have a 96 he has a 95. this one guy that went to my school had one with over 200000 miles on it with not one problem. to me 100000 miles or how ever many it has is really not that big of deal.

I havent owned a car yet so i dont know for sure. But from what i have read here on nico Ka's seem to be very reliable engines even at 200k+ miles. I dont know for a fact, im just saying what i have read. Hope this helped you

well, you said the engine has less miles than the chassis, so im assuming its either been rebuilt at some point, or swapped out for a somewhat newer one.

either way, it all depends on how the previous owner(s) treated the engine. the previous owner(s) of the engine i swapped into my car treated it like crap, so now im dealing with coolant problems.

if you see it in person, check it for visible leaks, and make sure it runs alright. if those two check out alright, im pretty sure you'll have a fairly decent car on your hands.

however, youre talking about drifting?

i beat the snot out of one of my 240's. it starts up everyime all the time. 2 of my 240's have over 210,000 each. both s13s

i drift one and dd one. good motors.

the gauge clusters usually go bad, but everything that goes bad is usually minor.

just do good upkeep on your car and it will treat u fine.
