I know I have read about this before, but I can remember the resolution. My car idles and runs awesome when I have bg44 in my tank. but after I fillup with new gas and no bg44 It begins to idle rough again. Curious huh?

Try adding about 4 to 6 oz of acetone and fill tank. Just curious if it would have the same effect as the BG.

I have been adding acetone to my tank. Lately about 4 oz to each fillup about 18 G. It helps but still not as much as BG. Eitherway, I am hoping to solve the problem. BG and acetone seem to bandaging it somewhat. But thanks for the response.

Do you have a SES light when it runs poorly?

I think you have to look at what BG44/Acetone combo is adding to your fuel that apparently premium fuel doesn't have. It would seem that the BG would be in there just to clean out the injectors so once the injectors are clean there would no point in adding any more BG to the fuel. Does it have octane booster in it or something like that? It doesn't make any sense unless you have a terminally dirty throttle body/ injector that requires constant cleaning. Very interesting problem...

I bet if you clean your EGR system your idle will return to normal. Your injectors are probably partially clogged or your MAF could be dirty as well.

BG44 does have octane booster in it. When we used to add it to the tank during services, if the tank was low on fuel, it would ping on the after road test. You may want to take a look at your timing.

Also what octane level fuel are you using? Any special additives in the fuel in your state?

mostly I use 91 octane from Sams Club. No abnormal additives other than detergents. I'm in Louisiana so our gas is pretty Okay

The next time you fill up omit your additives and try chevron supreme.

I cleaned the MAF and Throttle body today. I cannot believe how much crap was in my engine. I feel this is proof that my car is a living thing. Afterall, anything with that much carbon has to be alive. But I digress, The car is running much smoother but now the idle in "park" is 1100. I have only driven about 30 miles since cleaning it and the miles were all highway. Any ideas what happened?

Did you leave any vacuum hoses disconnected after cleaning the MAF? I did this once on another car and the idle was erratic at best until I hooked the line back up.

I think so...I hooked a total of 4 hoses to the main tubing.
