Just to let anyone in the Seattle,WA to Portland,OR area know, there is a Yellow WRX patrolling the I-5 corridor. This car has been modified to 340whp!!!! Only way to tell that this is a Washington State Partol car is by the license plate ending in WSP. This car has been fitted with everything from 18inch wheels, BOV, FMIC, exhaust, coilovers,etc. The patrol lights have been integrated into the tail lights and "block" lights are located next to the rear view mirror. So for those of you who like to race on the Freeway, BEWARE!!!:firedevil

Yeah, because the answer is that it is never safe to street race. Ever. Even on an abandoned highway you still run the risk of either getting pulled over by cops or getting hurt.

i know, but it's so tempting when you're at a light with a v6 mustang that think he's so fast....or a cavilier with a big wing...I race sometimes JUST to teach them a lesson.

Also if you don't race at ALL. What do you do to enjoy your cars speed?

I don't race... I do however speed... world of difference between them. THere is one street by me which is industrial area and there are no cars after a certian time since all the business are closed and there is no feed from any streets at all for a good strech... so once you are on that street you can't go out unless you make a U-e or go straight...

~I know those are not safe as well BUT it is safer then RACING someone... when racing, you go beyond just speeding and you have to worry abotu cars and the other drivers and the cops... and if you get too involved in it... well.. you know what can happen at that...

Not to say that I never raced.,.... I did but when I was younger and stupid... now I have too many responsiblities and too many people counting on me for me to make a dumb mistake while "racing" or get caught or something... you know!?

street racing isnt safe, but every once and i while i'll get on it at a light. I might haul a s s up to like 45-50, but thats it. It's not safe to be flying down a city street at 100mph. I also have a friend that wrapped an eclipse around a phone pole, sad part was- it was a turbo, even sadder- it was his mom's car.

Why would you bother with a WRX when you can buy hopped up Camaro's (which can be faster, and can actually be worked on by the department mechanic).

There's not enough room for when you **** up on the public roads. Simply put, you're gonna hit something solid and maybe even take someone else into it with you... or maybe even smack into someone as you richochet off of it.

I must admit though, there is something cool to the way traffic patterns and openings shape up when you're doing 90-120 on a freeway. Sure, you can safely go fast on the freeways. The thing is, those moments are few and far between.

I remember once racing a 240Z in a Miata, and we did about 45 miles down the 5, from downtown LA to Orange County at around 5:30am on a Saturday. It was more of a game of taking turns playing follow the leader, than a real true race though.

The thing is that racing to a certain extent, involves egos. And it's just not cool, to be doing things like that when there's other people around, who didn't sign up for it.

I got pulled over in my honduh doing 30 something over in a 55. He gave me a brake because a was going much faster. Got pulled over by a Z28 state trooper. Yeah I know it was stupid and I learned my lesson. You learn from your mistakes thats why I got rid of my honduh. As of today, I'm still fighting my tickets. lesson learned. nick

Ummm....maybe because there are A LOT of ricers who like to race on the freeways here. And no one would really expect a WRX as an undercover car. Sure a Camaro would be nice, but how many times do you see Camaro's as undercover cars?? A LOT. How big is the current import scene? Pretty big. What kinda cars are in the import scene? WRX's. So this isn't so much as a BS, but just a warning to those who do their battles on the freeway. If you ever get pulled over by some type of import car, think of this thread and don't say you weren't warned. By the way, there is also a '92 Civic hatch with a B18c and Drag T3/T4 turbo kit here as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I frequently speed...and on I-5. While i wouldnt call out a WRX to race my stock azz S14, i would blow by him and not even think twice.

there's a story of a supercharge maxima around here leading 5 or 6 ricers to a interstate stretch and he races starts to race, loses cause he doesn't go insanely fast, and motorcycle cops hiding around the overpasses pull all the ricers over.
