There's not enough room for when you **** up on the public roads. Simply put, you're gonna hit something solid and maybe even take someone else into it with you... or maybe even smack into someone as you richochet off of it.
I must admit though, there is something cool to the way traffic patterns and openings shape up when you're doing 90-120 on a freeway. Sure, you can safely go fast on the freeways. The thing is, those moments are few and far between.
I remember once racing a 240Z in a Miata, and we did about 45 miles down the 5, from downtown LA to Orange County at around 5:30am on a Saturday. It was more of a game of taking turns playing follow the leader, than a real true race though.
The thing is that racing to a certain extent, involves egos. And it's just not cool, to be doing things like that when there's other people around, who didn't sign up for it.
