I've searched and didn't have much luck, sorry if I missed it. It looks like an arc welder is the best option because of its cost... Which one would be powerful enough to get the job done on the 240's steel?

Thanks for your help. Less expensive is better, as long as it does the job.

An arc welder would be way too much. It generates too much heat and unless you have plenty of experience using one, you'll burn right through your work. Go pick up a Craftsman mig welder and get some practice in.

4 Steps for you to follow.http://www.smileytools.com/splashPage.hgVisit that site, Pick one, Buy, Weld. For the cheapness, I have heard and seen good things from their units. And being TIG, you can get much better welds at lower amperage. ARC is suicide trying to do bodywork with, trust me. I have seen several turbo manifolds welded up with one of their welders, and if it can hold up to the heat of a turbo, it will work for bodywork. Thing is, TIG is harder than MIG or ARC, so it will take practice to be able to use good.Speaking of being "powerfull enough to weld 240sx sheetmetal" You could just about use a 9V battery. No really, sheetmetal period is easy to burn through if you dont know what your doing. But TIG's are very adjustable, with no wire speed to worry about since you feed the wire by hand.

you could try (www.millerwelds.com) or google miller and find link there. or if you like lincoln, go there.. if youre gonna spend money on a welder get one with a warranty and tht you can easily get replacement parts and consumables( tips, nozzles, liners, etc) for. I work at a welding supply,(young welding.com) and we sell miller, lincoln, hobart( which is miller owned and made now), esab.. if you want one I could even get it shipped to you direct from miller i know for sure... for just a little over cost. I dont try to make a killing I know how it is to work for a living, tough sometimes.. email me if you want to discuss more [email protected]
