Firstly, I apologize for posting this if it's been covered before, but the search feature on this board is useless, since it won't let you search by forum!

With that out of the way, here's the Q:

Of the several front strut tower braces available for the Versa, which would you guys (and gals) suggest? The Tanabe seems to be the cheapest, but the Stillen and DC Sports both have a dual tube design that does look more rigid.Thoughts?

LOL, yeah, I figured that out later. The problem is, I wasn't using the search [button], I was using the more obvious, but less useful search box at the upper right of the screen.I guess I never noticed the actual search button because it kinda blends in with the banner ads, which I ignore by default. Sorry!

Anyway, anyone else have thoughts on the strut brace question?

Though I have no brace on my V, I have had a couple on other cars.

Non-adjustable braces are studier and help even more with body roll.

Adjustable braces are usually cheaper and more available, since a company can put out a set of brackets for a specific car and then one bar for EVERY car that plugs into the brackets. They still work quite well.

Hey Ev, thanks for the clarification.Would you say that the Tanabe and similar braces are adjustable?I think I see a turnbuckle-type arrangement at each end. That being said, both the Stillen and DC Sports bars appear very similar in design and I think are the non-adjustable type.Other that that, does anyone see anything that would make the Stillen bar worth the extra cost?Photos follow:DC Sports: Stillen: Generic on eBay: Tanabe:

Anyone wanna pick their favorites?I'm leaning towards the Stillen, because it's on sale right now and I like the red, but that's just the ricer in me coming out!

Be aware that the Tanabe brace on eBay does not appear to be an actual Tanabe product as discussed here:

the so called "tanabe" bar is adjustable (which would make the bar itself universal) just like the generic ebay bar, so maybe someone got some tanabe bars for a different car and made some mounts for the versa, or got some ebay bars and switched the mounts?

That's correct... the DC Sports and Stillen braces are non-adjustable, the others are.

How can you not see this . . .

Anywho non adjustable > adjustable as mentioned. Adjustable ebay crap tends to bend and warp under high pressure, and can actually damage things due to the cheap material used.

I think he was referring to me.I didn't see the search button, as I stated above, because it looks very much like a flashing banner ad, which I have trained my brain to automatically ignore. The search button is obvious, but could maybe be relocated or changed to not blend into the "background noise" as much. There's no need to be mean about it.

@EV and others: Thanks for the feedback!I guess that's why the "Tanabe" bar has the ends wrapped up, so you can't see the adjusters!I'll be getting either the DC or Stillen bar. I've emailed Stillen with questions about their bar vs. the DC, and I'll post any relevant info here.

I bought the Stillen brace just for the heck of it, I saw this thread and decided to finally put my brace on the little car. Firstly I want to say I thought the brace as one of those for looks items (Boy Racer) and really did not expect any real improvement to my horrible body roll (Like a 1950's boat!) I live in the San Fernando Valley and commute to mid-Wilshire 5 days a week, I don't drive the Freeways unless you consider a brief stint on the 10 and PCH, a good portion is Old Topanga Cyn. and New Topanga Cyn. If any of you have driven those Canyons, you know how twisty they get (I love it!!) So, this morning I starting through Old Topanga and WOW!!!! body roll seems like it's halved!!!!! sharper steering as well. Seems like this is the cheapest fix for handling, I'm getting the lowering springs next and an aggressive wheel tire combo, then we'll see how good it'll handle!!!! Yee Haw!!!
