so i put my welded diff in yesterday, and took it out for a little sliding for the first time.....motor spun bearing on interstate after hitting about 3 or 4 spot for about 3 min each within a 30 min timeframe. car had plenty of oil when i left my house, oil pressure gauge was not working. car still idles but starts to knock slightly at about 2500-3000 rpm...

my friend said he could rebuild the bottom with new bearing for 300 labor, but i think i might just sell everything, or put it all up for partout or trade...

idk guys what do u think. i dint really have the greatest experience drifting it last night. um, ive been sliding kas for 3+ years but not sure if it was the fact that ive never slide a turbo motor or the fact that i had no powersteering or the fact that the t28 is a little too big for the 1.8....not sure, but i was not thrilled and had a hard time NOT SPINNING OUT *sigh*

what shoud i do guys, i think i mite wanna just build a high comp ka.car has all this:Specs:1990 Nissan 240sx ($1300)CA18DET 55k Miles [Motor was refreshed: new belts, gaskets, rebuilt alternator, water pump, etc] $1500GTi-R T28 [Bought new from Garrett, has 8k Miles] ($800)AUTHENTIC Nismo CA18DET Motor Mounts and transmission Mounts ($260)Megasquirt II V3.0 [Ford EDIS-4 Ignition] ($650)Megaview II ($140)PCV Exhaust Evacuation Kit with SS lines ($140)SS Turbo Coolant Lines and Fittings ($130)SS Turbo Oil Line and fittings ($35)SSAC 3" Downpipe ($80)SSAC 3" Full Catback ($200)Aluminum 3" True COLD AIR INTAKE with KN Air Filter ($150)Custom 2.5" Intercooler Piping ($110)RPS Couplers and T-Bolts ($90)31"x12"x3" Opening 2.5" ($160)FORD 3.8 V6 Taurus Fan ($40)Autometer Z-Series 52mm Boost, EGT, Oil Pressure ($110)Odyssey PC680 Sealed Race Battery ($120)Pioneer DEH-2900 ($130)Alpine Type R 6.5" Round Front speakers ($160)Alpine Type R 6"x9" Rear Speakers ($160)DEI Viper 791XV Alarm [Stealth Install and Remote Start], Back up battery and siren ($600). 2 Kill Switches installed as well.walboro fuel pump 100aem wideband 275meagsquirt tune, program, and dyno 900 (by martin at zfever.it was making 234 whp on 7 pounds amazing!TOTAL=$8,200 (although its worth about $3,000 to me now after some wheeling and dealing ; )

if you dont like it, get rid of it. im sure some will buy parts, but if you think you can get more by selling the whole car, do that. If it were me, I'd probably rebuild the bottom with forged internals, and possibly buy an oil pressure gauge. That sucks though dude, hope w/e you do works out for ya!

btw, my friend has a 12:1 KA in his S14, and it "FEELS" about as fast as my stock CA. acceleration is better, but got boring after a month of the two of us driving it...

To have an issue such as yours and mention possibly selling off parts tells me that you were never too enthused with the CA anyway. So if you think you can do better with another nissan power plant, sell your headache and start over fresh.

this is a great oppurtunity for someone to get a whole lotta **** for cheap and put a little $ into it, fix it, and have a badass little 240. my loss can be your gain i really don't have or want to put any more money into this car.with a new block/and or new bearings and a boost controller, this setup will see 300 whp.

and TRUE. i have always been a ka guy but i actually bought this car to my friend jordan so that i could get my old convertible back.

come on....man up and fix the thing....you guys in the southern states dont know how good you have....im from toronto and your lucky to find a 240 body with frame rails not hangin off and strut tower bars rusted out along with rockers.....show the car some respect and fix a car thats not in bad shape......its not to much work...i wish we had 240's without rust all over em in canada....screw salt and winter......(went on this rant cause my 240 is currently buried in a snow bank with a flat tire...and im about to man up and dig it out)

300 bucks is nothing..........

I would be rebuilding it, but thats just me.

having trouble not spinning out sounds like you are having issue with too much power, but idk......

rebuild it. I can get you the hookup on bottom end bearings. I'm running clevites. You can do standards and other sizes. I spent I believe 30 something on them. It was super cheap for my rods and crank bearings.

If you really want to part ti out i'm sure I would get maybe a thing or two from you.

That GTi-R turbo is part of your problem. That turbine housing is WAY to big for the CA. An S15 T28 would be better. In all honesty, an SR T25 will make plenty of power to drift with and have much better response and spool up faster.

I'd rebuild it.

My CA is still sitting up because the same thing happened to me. After I just installed new turbo, and rod bearings.

Here are pics of the CAI

In case anyone was wondering, yes this was my old setup. I decided to get out of the tuning scene so I sold the 240 and used the cash to get a 05 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS.

If you guys got anymore questions or need more pics let me know I documented and took lots of pics of the car.
