Thought I started a post on this, but...Car started running rough, mechanic says #5 injector is out. I would appreciate suggestions about what I should take care of while plenum is off. He found a leaky fuel line and will be fixing that, can they check to see if the other injectors are ok? My mechanic said not much he can do, injectors really don't give warnings that they are going. Also have leaky power steering hose (clamp) he'll take care of. Again, thanks for your advice. Even if I don't take it, it's comforting to hear the points of view. A bit of ammunition I can use for leverage with my mechanic.

Thanks

PS I don't have the funds to do an under plenum job completely. If there are priorities of things to do in that area, it would be appreciated. BTW, found a mouse nest under the plenum. Don't think the mouse knew what he was getting into :D

Shoot, all you have is one bad injector? I had 5 and just got done putting them in. I know that it is recommended that all of them be replaced in my situation, but the budget only passed the senate and congress, the prez vetoed however.

I wouldn't worry about replacing all of them if I were you, just make sure you check the ohm readings on the other ones. 10-14 ohm reading is what the manual says to have them at. My brand new ones were reading at 12.2-12.4.

Move the more suspect injectors to the locations not requiring plenum removal again.

On the other hand, you will be paying to remove the plenum again when the hoses you didn't replace this time fail, if you catch them before the engine fails. There is not "cheap"way to do it right, unless you do it right the first time (preventative maintenance).

Hence the saying, "You can pay me now, or you can pay me now and pay me again later."

I had injectors problem where I replaced the two faulty once, and then four months later another one failed. On the second failure I replaced all of them. Eventually paid double for the labor, which is not cheap at all. I would say replace all of them because they might be dirty even though the voltage is correct.
