I was parking the Z last night and when I was reversing it into the RV parking on the side of my house the radio went out and came back on. I got it into its spot and let it run, noticed that my lights (inside and out) were all dimming, i had the windows down so i rolled them up and that was the last straw, the car died. The weird part was that i went under the hood and noticed I don't have the OEM Battery retainer bar (I apologize if thats not the official name) and I moved the battery a little and then i saw the security light flashing as it always does if the doors or hood is open. I don't get it, after it died it acted like it had no power (I.E. no lights, radio, power locks, and wouldn't start) then i just moved the battery a little bit (and I mean a little bit like maybe a few cm's) and i got power back and I was able to get the car to start and run! Like perfect. I do have the battery light on, it has been on since i purchased the car last month, it is very dim and most of the time I do not notice it, after about 3000 rpm it goes away for a little bit then comes back on (dim still, always dim). My thoughts are a new alternator is needed, its got a new belt and seems to have good tension. Just want some advice before i spend the $$$$. Could also be connection related, i have not checked the grounds because I need to research more on that, the battery terminals seem good and are not corroded.
Thanks all and have a great weekend! :bigthumb:

If you moved the battery and had power back, you have a loose connection. Look for the wire coming that fuse box by the battery, that controls a lot of the car(if not all), and I think the charging of the battery from the alt. Best thing you can do is take the alt off and go have it tested, don't have it tested on the car because if you have a loose wire it will show that it is bad, and you could have replaced the alt for no reason.

But look for the wiring out of that little fuse box, it should be a white wire(s) all bundled to one connection at the battery.

With you batt light, it still could be a loose connection and revving it up may put enough juice through what connection it does have. But if the connection is good, then its the alt that is going bad like you stated. But just remove it and get it tested.
