Ok since its starting to cool off now and I would like to save a little $$$$ on gas I need to take care of this problem now. Around june I noticed that my compressor would run when the ac switch was off or it would stay on when i turned it off. I tried turning the car on and off and moving the vent selector and sometimes it would turn off but not all the time. If anyone knows what could be causeing this please let me know I would like to not have to go to a mec if possible.

I am having the exact same problem. It seems like if I turn the dial to defrost (where it forces A/C on) the A/C will get "stuck" in the on position somehow. I've tried changing the air flow positions and turning the actual A/C button on and off and nothing but turning the car off seems to reset the A/C to the off position. Any info on the problem would be a big help.

I really wish these cars had a position where no air came through either. Even with it on recirculate I still get air through whatever vent is selected as soon as I start moving.

However, my AC doesn't stay on... at least I don't think it does... I'll double check today. That's a weird problem.

I know my old maxima had a switch for that. Sometimes the ac will even come on when I first start the car and turn on the fan without hitting the button.

It's not the switch, it's most likely the resister. It is behind the glove compartment. On my 02 G20, the part was $120.Good luck
