A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Ive done it on a friends 2.0L. Not much needs to be done, Though a gasket matching is a VERY good idea. As where to have one done, check either google or your local yellow pages for a machine shop. Call around, and ask for estimates.

If your intentions are for a P&P, i suggest its a good time for 1mm oversized valves, Mild cam grind, bore out your TB, and install new throttle plate. Also good time up upgrade and Index your spark plugs. But its up to you. Just some things i would look into if your gonna pull the head.

Just as a small peak, i have quite a bit of experiance with both the 2.0L and 2.5L.

Here you can see the gasket differance from where the intake manifold meets the head. v

Also as a suggestion, here is a pic of the Throttle body. Do you see that bump right before the butterfly? Smooth it out, for better airflow transision from intake pipe to tb, to the little air diverter on the entrance of the intake manifold, then onward to the rest of the plenum.

Its been about 1.5years since those pics. I did it myself, but then again, i was working for a machine shop at the time. Its not hard, But if you have little to no experiance taking apart and re-assembling an engine, i such u have it done by a professional.

I have full access to a machine shop, do you know of any guides that show the steps involved? What benefits from doing this? On the throttle body, can that just be sanded down?

i think it helps to have an air bench to see the airflow and know where to grind. i was reading up on it a little bit last night and found that it has an average gain of about 10hp but if done wrong can cost about 10 hp.

correct.

The hump in the thottle body can just be sanded down. In the SE-R, the hump is a bit less defined, and ill explain that in a little bit. Also the 2.5L has a much bigger tb. http://www.allsentra.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=823

As for basic port matching, you just really need to see what casting marks can be removed, and places where the gaskets dont meet up properly, can be fixed, by either making the port larger to match the gasket, or modifing the gasket, to make in match.
