a corvette is by no means a big car. It is actually pretty small in my opinion

I just happened upon this thread. I auto-x'd my Altima for the first time this past Sunday. It was a blast. It was much more fun in the Altima than in the Maxima. Power is not necessarily an advantage! I finished second in my class so I was pleased. I enjoy this much better than straight line racing. I am hooked!

is the altima stock? and also, 5spd or auto? but why was it more fun than the maxima, i figured that huge ummphh would make the differnce, althought the car is heavier, and may i ask why your o2 SE is for sale? sorry for all the questions

I believe auto-x with an auto would be very uneventful

Altima is bone stock and is an auto. It began as my mothers and she prefers automatics, so I have to work with what I have. Maybe it was more fun because it felt better being a smaller lighter weight car. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it was just more fun in and out of the cones than with the Maxima. The Maxima is for sale simply because I can't really afford the payments anymore right now. If things improve, I may try to keep it, but right now I'm not sure what I really want to do.

do you let the tranny shift itself or do you keep it in 1?

This being my first time out in this car I decided to let it shift itself to see how it would do. Next time I think I will try keeping it in 2 depending on the course. The course I ran Sunday, if I were in a manual, I would shift into second and leave it there. It was short enough to not have to worry about hitting the rev limiter. I'm still in the experimental stage with this Altima so see what would be best.

im kinda in the same situation as you with the payments, i can't really afford the altima, but some how i keep making it, and the funny thing is, i kinda want to sell it and get something a lil more sporty, perhaps a 24o or something like that, but id' hate to give up the niceness and reliability of the altima, not to mention it just looks great and its new

First gens will always be my favorite style of altima. I don't like 4 doors much, but I can tolerate the looks of mine.

I don't know how an automatic 2.5 would fair, but I know a 5 speed U13 would do well, and there's a few guys on altimas.net who have done very well with their 3.5se 5 speeds. I'm not much for automatic vehicles anymore myself

neither am i for that matter, however i dont really want a 5spd in a 4cyl 4door semiluxury sedan, now if i had a spec V or 3.5, then yea, def 5 or 6 spd

I'd especially want a 5 speed in the 2.5. I would want the the 5 speed for the extra acceleration. Auto's are god awful slow

i see your point, and now, yea i wish i couldve gotten teh 5psd, but it just wasnt an option for me unfortunately, and the auto is that slow either, most 'new' autos are actualy fairly quick, still ntohing compared to a 5spd
