I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier 2.4 litre, when cranked for the first time of the day transmission hessitates a few seconds when put in drive. It dont hesitate if put in reverse or low 1 or low2.Also it will not go into overdrive unless you let off the gas pedal, but as soon as you depress gas it will drop out of overdrive. Thanks for any replies.

Welcome to NICO.

How's the color and smell of the transmission fluid? Also, check the level of the fluid according to the steps described on page MA-18 of the factory service manual.

Has the fluid ever been changed?

Transmission fluid and filter has just been changed. I change them around every 40,000 miles. The day it started this it all worked fine until i cut off the truck and went into my moms house , came back out cranked up the truck and has not worked right since. I have checked the computer, but no codes are showing.

Try cleaning the MAF sensor (use MAF sensor cleaner spray only) and replacing the fuel filter if it hasn't been replaced within the past two years. I've read anecdotes of MAF cleaning especially helping with odd shift problems.

Perhaps do a drain & fill of the transmission fluid too, it's relatively inexpensive and simple to do. What fluid have you been using?

I had the same problem with my pathfinder(v6), then my engine locked up due to the oil pressure sender blowing out(not related). When I was removing the motor/ transmission, Three or four wires that run along the top of the transmission were melted in half. Someone had changed the transmission before, and didn't have them fastened above the transmission like they're supposed to be.(they were laying on top of transmission). My rear o2 sensor was melted there also. Wouldn't hurt to check them.
