Automatic ECall mute

I went in for my second dealer-paid oil change and told the check-in guy about my issues with the audio not functioning sometimes (3 incidents) and the auto refuel trip counter randomly resetting.

When they were done, they said found a problem and fixed it. The invoice describes the issue as a stored B2E1B-031 DTC with the fix being to erase the code (per the service manual).

Color me skeptical that they found the underlying issue. I can understand the car wanting to mute the audio system if there has been a collision and it's making an emergency call, but I don't see how clearing the code will keep the problem from recurring.

There is a bulletin about it, for the TCU's on a number of models:

We have seen a few instances where the code occurred spuriously (i.e., without a collision which caused any real damage). Resetting the TCU parameter as advised by the bulletin seemed to fix them without recurrence. If you do get a repetition, you probably have a bad TCU.
