Hi all,

I dont know if this a normal behavior for my 1996 Maxima SE. I have an automatic transmission and it seems to shift hard from gear 1 to 2. I have tried changing the fluids and flushed it out to make sure its clean. Problem is still there. When the transmission gets warm from driving the shifting turns smooth and has no issue. I have no idea what could be wrong? Maybe I got shafted and they didnt do a good enough job flushing out the transmission. Any suggestions what could cause a shifting issue when the transmission is cold vs warm?

Thanks all

you need a fiction modifier, you can`t just use regular transfliud, nissan transmissions are high friction.the auto part stores sell a modifier, its about 9 bucks.the other stuff like lucas oil makes it slip, those gears have to grip and hold.you don`t need a lubercate.i had the same problem,i was going to change the trans and a coworker recommended the modifier, and i haven`t had a problem since and my trans has 240000 miles on it

My engine light just came on today with a P0600 code. I also replaced the VSS senor in my car too. Could having the wrong tanny fluid or bad transmission fluid trigger my engine like and give my ecu a code of P0600?

I tried to find some modifier for my transmission fluid but my mechanic friend said to just change the transmission fluid to Dextron 3 type tanny and that should work. Does that transmission fluid carry the same additives in the modifier? Or do I still need to find one to add to the new transmission fluid?

The OD light is flashing when I start the car too, do you know what that means? could it be that the transmission was slipping?

Sorry forgot to ask, what other brands of modifiers is out there that will work? I cant find any. I have a canadian tire, napa, part source in my location, does anyone of those carry modifier additives? If so do you know the brand and name of the bottle is?

Thanks
