My 2014 Rogue was recently in an accident and they replace the LED headlights. I notice that they do not perform a self check when you turn them on. I also checked after starting the car and no self check. Can anyone confirm if there is a auto check when you turn the lights?

Thanks for checking. When does it happen. When you turn on the lights without starting the car or when you start the car and then turn on the lights?

Usually after starting car but I try before later today. Sometimes when car parked on perfect level there is no self checking.

Thanks for checking. I spoke with the collision place and they call the dealer's parts department and was told that the newer lights do not perform a self check. I am a bit suspicious. They recommended to have it checked by the dealer the next time I was in. I plan to take it in soon and have them check. Strange that it would be changed to not check on start up. I have a feeling a sensor outside of the light assemble was damaged and not replaced.

I am not sure about the new Rogue as I have a old one, but with the other cars that I drove on, the self level check only perform when the headlight is on Auto, outside is dark, and you start the car in that condition.

Does anyone know if there are sensors outside of the headlight assembly that controls the levelizer? I noticed that the lights do not seem to move up or down when driving up or down a hill.

I don't think it should do that. Auto level means when you start the car (along with some conditions), it will level the headlight automatically so that it will (should) aim correctly. It should not move after the self test.

I am not sure if the 2014s are different, but another member mentioned that they do move up and down on hills so they do not blink other drivers when you go up hill.

Can anyone with a 2014 confirm if the headlights move up and down on hills? Thanks

Can't confirm, but stop and think about it. If they 'auto level' only when you start the car, that would mean your car would have to be parked on a perfectly level surface upon every start. Otherwise they might end up way off when you were driving on level roads. And if they just 'auto leveled' to some preset point in the car itself upon starting and not the ground, why bother? Just fix permanently to that point of the car, like most other cars on the road. YM2C

Not sure on the 2014 but on the 2015 you can tell they move. Go to a dark road that has speed bumps and you will see the lights adjust. It is not much but you can see.
