John, I have a southern accent according to Minnesotan's. But you know me, I'm not exactly "southern" when I speak.

since you already went to a tech school that teach you how to fix cars, and you want to be an automotive engineer, you best bet is to go Ferris State University in Michigan. I am currently attending, the school offers Automotive Engineering Technology Degree and also Automotive & Heavy Equipment Management Degree, both are Bachelor Degree. If you had earn credits from Apex Tech School, you can transfer it to FSU. Therefore, you just go to FSU for about 2 years and you can get you Bachelor degree for Auto Engineering.I am currently going for the Auto & Heavy Equipment Management degree since i am not smart at science and math, auto engineering require to take alot of science class and Calculas. I only have one year leave. I came from UTI (UTI Sucks, Rip off and Gay school that i don't recommend anyone to go) then transfer to FSU, you can do that too, here is the websitehttp://www.ferris.edu

I don't remember offhand. I had instate tuition, but whatever I paid, I know it's more now. The rates I'm sure are posted on http://www.mnsu.edu

If you graduate HS with over a 3.0 gpa, then you can get instate tuition in MN.

Go to http://www.mnsu.edu/busoff/acc....html

Then match the credits you are going to take with your location. If you have over a 3.0 gpa, then you can match it up to resident, because you *can* get if in-state tuition if you apply for it (must apply, its not automatic).

Dorm rates are right here:http://www2.mnsu.edu/reslife/02-03/Rates02-03.htm

So you are looking at $1121 for the dorm if you do a triple (2 roomates) with no meal plan (well, 19 meals/semester), plus $1990.60 for 12-18 credits of in-state tuition (average person).

That's a total of $3111.60 for the fall semester coming up, assuming room, little or no meal plan, and average course load.

Yeah, if no 3.0, then out-of-state. (which is like double, but maybe that's some incentive to study :))

A triple means 3 people sharing one room. Kitchen and bathrooms are located in the center of the dorm floor, everyone on the floor shares them.

I lived in a double my first year, and a super double the 2nd year (triple room, but only 2 people). Not sure if they still do that though. But anyway, it's not that bad, just go with a double and it's pretty cool. 3rd and 4th year I had off-campus apartments.

Here's the parking prices:

http://www.mnsu.edu/parking/pe....html

You'll need either a green or orange permit. I recommend green, unless you like to walk (really far). Green will have you walking far enough, and you can't get any closer than that.

The food is actually pretty decent, for being college cafeteria food. They actually have some gourmet meals once in awhile, or you can get credit towards taco bell and stuff in the student union instead of eating in the caf'.

Well, MSU is in Mankato, which is about 60,000 people or so. So it's a tiny city. But I would still consider it a city. The dealers in town are Honda, Chevy/VW/Nissan, Ford, Dodge, Lincoln. That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are a couple more. I actually used to work at the Nissan dealer, but I didn't like it and quit.

You can also do on-campus workstudy, but it only pays minimum wage most the time. Some jobs might be a little more pay, but not much. Night-owl watch (checking ID's in the middle of the night for people coming in the dorms) I think get like $8/hr.

But yeah, it's an alright size city. It's got 4 or 5 big grocery stores, a mall with Sears, JCPenny's, etc. And if you get that bored, Minnapolis is only an hour and 15 mins away.

Walking, they are a bit far from campus. You can ride a bike, take the bus, or drive. The Nissan/Chevy/VW dealer is the closest to campus probably, and would be about a 15 minute bike ride.

There is a city bus service that can get you just about anywhere in town. It's like $1.50 or something to take it. Or if you stay within the "campus zone" it's cheaper. And if you get an apartment, you can get a semester bus pass that will take you to campus and back for pretty cheap (like $30/semester or something).

hey torry when do the actual auto courses start? like they start once you a freshman with 1 or 2 auto class and a bunch of regular classes or they don't let the auto courses start until you a sophmore or a junior until you completed the regular math english, etc courses?

i'm askin because if they start the majors on sophmore or junior years i think it'll be better off for me to go to a local college because is cheaper and i can get alot of regular courses out of my way.

No, AET requires a ton of classes. The only major that I believe requires more is ME. So, you *must* start taking auto classes your very first semester, otherwise it will take you like 7 years to graduate. So yeah, get your gen ed's at MSU, because you will need to be taking some auto classes at the same time.

Look at the required classes, you will see lots of 100 and 200 level required classes, you need to take as many of those as you can during your first 2 years.
