Hey all I'm new to this so please correct any mistakes I make. Also apologies in advance for my pitiful knowledge of mechanical business. I own a 1986.5 d21 hard body. My head lights seem dim while driving, but when I get on the gas and the R.P.M.s increase they get brighter and once i let off the gas the head lights dim back down. Aslo the battery light on the dash glows slightly. I think I have a problem with my alternator I have replaced it once and still nothing? Please help with any ideas, again sorry for the incompetence.

If getting a new alternator did nothing return it and get what money you can back. Use that money to buy a newer stronger battery. Depending on how much extra stuff you are using and pulling energy off the battery that could be dimming your lights. Example, extra lights, big audio system, any accessories. Let us know if that fixes it.

Ok i went to Autozone to have them plug their diagnostic thing into the battery. they said the alternator seemed fine but something called the pattern diode was bad. I have no idea what that is so maybe its time to call a professional.
