You might try a product specifically designed for urine smells. I'm guessing that's most of what's left.

Man that's nasty. So where did you end up finding the peppermint oil?
Just call your nearest middle age mom. She'll hook you up. Especially if you went to high school together.

Parked the car for a few days as i was using another
Smell got worse.
Took apart lower dash
Found dead juvenile mouse (or baby squirrel) but droppings show it was still alive recently

Car is getting oved to a different location as I am moving : )
I am hopeful the threat or more rodent business is small.
After cleaning out the blower and spraying down the HVAC (again) smell appears 99% gone now.

Squirrels, chipmunks and raccoons will generally pop the canopy and pull the yellow handle. Mice, rats and opossums will very often travel with the car. Since we're pretty sure it's mice, put out some sticky-traps if you don't want to stink it up, but don't assume they're gone.

I will take your advice.
but I doubt any mice would still be alive.
The car was cooking for days in the sun all windows closed no water source in the car.
thats why the mouse likely died.

I will still put out traps.
Car will sit unattended on a military base for next 10 days.

Just went through this thread with great amusement.
I had similar experiences with mice and squirrels when I left my Pathfinder in the garage for a month when we went south for a vacation.
Like you, I didn't notice right away that there was a nest under the hood. When I looked, they had ripped apart (shredded) the hood liner to make the nest, as well as setting up shop in the engine air intake box. Thankfully they didn't get under the dash or in the cabin filter area.
I check regularly now, and have had return visits on several occasions. I set up snap traps in the garage and catch mice on a regular basis.
What makes it worse is that I don't live in the country. I'm in a suburb, five minutes away from a Walmart and Costco. Rodents are everywhere now.

You're both actually pretty lucky that the critters didn't get started on your wiring. Most Nissan harnesses use soy powder as a "sliding and cushioning" agent inside the wire looms, which can make the wiring harnesses irresistible meals, especially to rats.

I have 12 cars here, awaiting transport to Canada for a snowbird buddy... Due to pandemic and border closures, they were here 18 months longer than planned.

Dryer sheets, Irish Spring soap, and mothballs under the hood and in the interiors seems to have kept our desert critters at bay, but they will devastate a car that sits for more than a few days outside.

Was watching a Mustie1 video today and thought of this.

Not for faint of heart. But uh...hint: there's a biological reason that timing belts are worse than timing chains...

https://youtu.be/8RLI-ecGwis

Also that kit car at the beginning with the 914/VW engine has 62 Corvair tail lights...
