Are these HKS cams worth it?

I can get a set of HKS cams for the CA18DET for US$400 and was wondering if these were any good. The specs are:

IN, EX SIDE = DURATION 256. LIFT 8.53.

I want a good overall cam which does not require valvetrain upgrade. The motor is basicly stock except with HKS drager exhaust. My goal is to build 250whp with bolt-ons. Do you guys recommend me to make the purchase?

Thanks!

you don't need cams for 250whp

I never had cams (so I am an idiot) but if I get cams I'll proably get the cam sprocket, valve springs also, and that adds up

bolt ons, injectors and fuel managementq is enough for your desired power

Now if I raise the goal higher to 300whp+, should I jump on these?

Or they are simply not worth the money? Thanks!

That doesn't sound like too bad of a price, considering that you will pay for the name whenever you buy HKS products. I don' think cams are the most logical first step on a turbo engine, but it is your car.

a guy that used to be on here, put those cams in his CA and said he didn't notice a whole lot of difference. He said it was definatly noticiable, but it didn't knock your pants off. I'd only expect 10-15hp from those.

in addition to that. I don't know much but cams but some has drivability issues (eg: stage 2 toda cams cause b18c1 motor's idle to fluctuate) and many times you lose power at the low end

Im a newbie to the force induction scene, not really sure how turbo cams would work differently than NA cams.

In my Prelude H22 I have Jun stage 3 cams, idle is smooth as stock. I guess it really depends on the lift and duration.

hks cams are prerry popular on this board, I believe

you shoudl do a search on people's feedback on them

remember this now though: you have a turbo, you can raise the amount of air pushed into the engine to make power now

I believe, even without cams, with a slightly better turbo, injectors, a/f mangement, tuning, can get you close to 300whp

we have the same goal: maybe you can use my list to use as a refrence: http://www.heatsinkninja.com/240sx.html

gt2871r and s15 turbo are popular on this board also. I anticipate to be around 300whps with a turbo upgrade/tuning
