Hi guys,

I'm new here, I'm from Romania, I bought a Nissan 200SX about 4 months ago, since then I am rebuilding it, engine is done, new bigger Turbo, new Intake etc etc

I have this Apexi AFC now which I want to install for the CA18DET engine. Maybe you guys can help me with some instructions. I would mostly appreciate this!!

Image is taken from another thread but I have the same one.

just go on apexi's site and download the manual.

you have a different MAF that needs correcting?

An old one knob, wow that's a piece of history.

It works the same way as the first SAFC except it changes the entire fuel map up or down the same amount where the SAFC allows you to adjust the map to a different degree at different RPM points and two correction tables based on two throttle positions. The AFC understandably has no throttle or RPM inputs like the SAFC does. This hookup digram is for the SAFC minus the throttle and RPM hookups. Pay special attention this diagram assumes the harness is plugged into the computer and you are looking down the harness at the computer. Double check the pin counts and don't accidentally hook it up backwards. The wires are for these thingsBlack = Ground Red = Power White= Airflow signal (from Air Flow Meter) Yellow = Airflow signal (going to ECU)

There are three pins on the harness you are looking forGround GPower P Air flow signal A

XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXGAXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXPX

splice into the power and groundwires but you actually cut the air flow signal wire. The end to the computer is connected to the yellow wire on the AFC, the end to the harness is connected to the white wire on the AFC.

done

The AFC cannot correct for a different air flow meter so be careful and tune accordingly.

Thanks a lot man, that's great info you gave me. I'll write some first impressions after I manage to install it. Yes indeed it's pretty old but I'm happy I managed to find at least this one, with parts being so expensive in Romania...I'm having some problems with the idle running of the engine in the meantime. It keeps fluctuating and dying on me sometimes (most of the times )I'm suspecting the fuel pressure regulator, luckily I have another two of those, so I will change it to see if any difference. Also the engine dies when pushing the brake harder.

Hope I can sort it out...

Put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail. Without a solid reading on a gauge you can't be 100% sure.Usually when a regulator goes bad, at least from my experience the car will fall flat as it starts to boost not idle funny. That sounds more like a dirty idle stepping motor, might want to check that too.

Hi again! Well I replaced the fuel pressure regulator, the aac valve, cleaned the idle stepping motor... still the same problem. The idle fluctuates between 500 rpm or below and 2000 rpm

Most common signs are the following:

-going down to 500 rpm then revving by itself to 2000, then dropping again and revving...

-when revving it to 2000-2500 or when driving at that rpm and you hit the brakes and letting the acceleration go, it drops and dies.

-if trying to adjust it to 800 rpm without any electrical connections it's not possible or if I'm lucky to adjust it, when I connect everything it jumps to about 2000-2500

I mean

Really sounds like a vac leak to me as well. Do you know how to check for one?
