I need one, if anyone has one for sale, or if anyone knows of another car that I could find them off of in a salvage yard, let me know.

good luck finding those coil packs.. Ive ran through alot of those. Those pulsars are nearly impossible to find in the junkyard. And that comment is coming from a person who is on his 4th Pulsar =)

nevermind, I found that one of my spare ones is working after all... you said "I've ran through a lot of those" do you mean you have needed to replace them? Because ****... 3 of mine are stock, 1 is an aftermarket replacement, my clip only had 90,000 km on it (though it was from a '90), and since I've had it (around 6000 miles) I've had to change out the #3 and #2 coilpacks. Is this normal?

run the motor without the coilpack cover thingy (says twin cam 16 valve on it). It traps the heat from the motor in there and frys the coilpacks. Yes this is a common problem.

Get as standalone that eliminates the coilpacks. That's what I did.

Ok, so that's probabally not the best way to do it...

I've removed the cover already, I took it off once the first one went bad. I have two covers, I am thinking about cutting one out and maybe mountin a little computer fan or something in there to circulate air over the coilpacks.. I wonder if that would improve their reliability.

are you shure that cover fries the coil packs? might it be something else?

i dotn think nissan would have disigned it that way if that was the case.

it is possibly, but generaly nissan is smarter than most of us.

Ive owned 2 ca18de pulsars and ive got about 10 coil packs sitting in a pail in the garage, and about another 4 sitting in a car in someone's yard, not to mention the 4 that are in my engine at the moment. They go real bad. The reason why they die is because of the heat and also the ignitor. The Ignition Module is mounted on the side of the engine which is the STUPIDEST place to put it. The reason why it dies and cuts out is because of it's location. It hates heat and vibration, so where does Nissan mount it? ......see where im coming from? A dying module is hell for the coil packs too. Im working on a relocation kit for the module at the moment.

Do you think that my ignition module could be going bad? How does it affect the coilpacks?

mine's mounted on the passenger side, along the strut area (can't think of what to call it at the moment). Used various hacked up other-purpose brackets.. forget what from. I know I tried to use and may have used for it or something else the one from the KA's coil.. hah

I don't recall if the hole I mounted it to on the cruise bracket was there or we drilled it.. I think we drilled it.

yeah mine is mounted with one bolt and a few zipties.... maybe it deserves a more solid, vibration damped mounting system...

they're on ebay all the time. They list for anywhere between $15 and $75 normally. That's where i picked up my spare set after buying a bad one from the junkyard.

yeah a bought a set off ebay and they were crappy, half of them were broken and the harness had been glued onto the coilpacks with epoxy, etc.... Can you go into autozone or Napa and order replacement coilpacks for the pulsar?

yup.

I think something like 5 of the 8 I originally had (4 came w/ each motor) were bad.. luckilly I had a set of 4 I got from ebay before I even got the motors that at least one of worked.. not sure how many others do, never bothered testing them once I had a working set. And no, I won't sell them off - if they are working I might need them at any time if I get a complete backup set and had leftovers that'd be different tho.. but I LIKE having backup parts
