hi, i'm new to the board and was looking for someplace in atl to take my s13 to replace the blown head gasket (and i also have the timing chain problem). i was outrageously misquoted recently, and at this point i'm just looking to not have to replace the car rather than having it perform, i.e. i have to be fairly practical . upon searching the threads i found a lot of garages in the atlanta area but most of them seem fairly pricey (i'm holding off on a lot of work until i have $$$) so thanks for any info.

balanced preformance is an all out shop though, you don't have to take it to them to have it done. There are a bunch of independent shops all around snellville lawrenceville and loganville that will do it for a good price, better than Bp

I don't know what you consider high, but you will probably end up spending around 2,000 to get the chain and the head done. The machine shop alone, parts, and gaskets will probably run over a $1000(valve job, resurface, good head gasket set, chains, tensioners, miscelaneous) Plus the labor is horrible to do. There is a guy at Georgia Tech who may be interested in doing it, If you want his name let me know. Unstable is also on the East side of ATL. Any shop should be able to do it though if they have competant mechanics.

Hmmmmmmm......well, I recently moved from Dunwoody about a year and a half ago, in DeKalb county, but if your willing to head up there, go to Lowes Mazda, well, if you are wondering why you should go there, this is it, read it closely, that was my brothers girlfriends dads shop for all cars but mainly for Mazdas, he is really cheap and can work on any engine.
