I downloaded the service manual, but it does not say much about changing the spark plugs.

Anyone got any tips for me before I attempt to change it?

Thank you much.

dont overtighten the plugs.

when plugs are brand new, spin them in the head by hand until they are snug, then use the ratchet to add 90 degrees.

when plugs are used, its snug plus 15 degrees.

if you have a torque wrench, its 20 ft lbs.

How accessable of those spark plugs on the 99 Q45? I have been reading on changing the plugs, but all of the information pertains to the 1st generation Q45 only. Most of them said that the plugs are very hard to access.

Is the 2nd generation Q45 plugs any different than the 1st generation Q45?

the rear ones are pretty burried you will have to remove a few items above them but then they come out pretty easy.

The G50 and FY33 both use a VH series engine, so basic layout and procedures are quite similar.

Shop manuals are a great source for information.

Thank you all for the responses.

I am still confuse on where the spark plugs are.

According to the picture below,

SparkPlugs

the picture shows 4 ignition coils.

Are there two spark plugs at each ignition coil? If each ignition coil contains only one spark plug, then where are the rest of the spark plugs?

Thanks.

It is a coil on plug design, hence no wires. The illustration to which you are referring is showing the passenger's side only.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

So there are four more coils on the driver side?

Thanks Rex,

The service manual for changing plugs is really bad. All they have is that one picture and 4 instruction steps.

Thank you all for the responses.

I just replaced the spark plugs. It was easier than I thought. I took me about 3 1/2 hours.

The old spark plugs is NGK platinum, which should be good for 100k. My Q has 62k.

I just currious why the user manual and the dealer want to replace the plugs at 60k.
