I have searched this and didn't find what I was looking for. Well i have been contemplating to just get a stage 3 clutch or stage 3 clutch with lightened flywheel. My friend said that it is not such a good ideal because it will drop rpm's to fast and you will have to build up your boost at a lower rpm than the stock flywheel.

My question is what have some people experience with a lightened flywheel on a turbo ka and is getting a lightened flywheel worth it?

man i wish i could tell you. i have the lightweight flywheel and clutch sitting at home waiting for me to get the turbo kit. its cost a lot though!

but you should be fine man. it will help spool up the turbo faster since you go through the rpms faster. as far as dropping rpms quicker i have heard this happens because its lightweight but it shouldnt be a problem as much as something to get use to. there are definitly people on the board with this setup and i dont think anyone has anything bad to say about it....

it will only drop super fast if you have like a 8 -10 pound flywheel. thats just too light IMO i have a 14 lb flywheel works like a charm, revvs like a champ. go with the clutch and light weight flywheel, just don't go too light

It all depends on what you are planning to do with the car. If you're going to race it all the time(autocross...road races...whatever), then go with the lighter flywheel. If it's going to be an every day driver, leave the stock one in (or get a slightly lighter flywheel, just not super light). It's not easy to drive a severely lightened flywheel turbo car in bad stop and go traffic...

I'm running a Spec stage 2 clutch with a Fidanza 11 lb. flywheel on my KA-T. I have no problems whatsoever with it. It's not hard to drive at all. It made driving much more fun as far as heel toeing and tackling corners goes. The motor revs incredibly fast even in NA form. I'd definitely recommend going with a lightweight flywheel for everything but drag racing especially if you have to change out your clutch anyways.
