Im new to this site. I dont own a Nissan/Infinite so I tried looking for an answer and couldnt find it so I joined, searched more, and still could not find much.

My friend has a 93 G20 and I've been working on it.

Well the problem is, it wont start. It wont even turn over or not even try to turn over. When I turn the key to "start", I hear a chick that seems to be coming from under the dash near the fusebox.

I tested the battery and its fine. Im not a pro but I did what I could by checking the fuses, ignition wires, and starter/solenoid wires. I figured the starter was bad, and so did a couple of my buddies. I was confidant that it was the starter so I got a rebuilt Mitsubishi one from Checkers with a life time warranty.

After installing the new starter, I tried starting the car...NOTHING! Same clicking and everything.

Someone please help me get this girls car back on the road.

Thank you guys in advance!!

I gather that it's a single click and not the kind of clicking the starter makes when it's trying to turn.

This sounds like something that's happened to me a few times. It turned out to just be terminal corrosion.

Is there a lot of corrosion on the battery? I assume you cleaned it when you checked it, but I'm covering all the bases.

Check all the wiring between the battery and ignition and the ignition and the starter.

I checked the terminals and had very little corrosion. I'll clean those anyway, just in case and I'll check the wiring tomorrow.

You said ignition as in, of course, the ignition switch right? I mean I know theres no wires going from the ignition/spark plug wires to the starter but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks but its not the battery. I tested it and it has lots of juice.

Hopefully today Im going to run a wire strait to the starter from the battery to be sure that its the connection thats causing this.

Thanks again you guys! If you guys have any more ideas, just through em at me.

Yes, I meant the ignition switch.

Good plan on running a wire from the battery to the starter.

The car didnt get sent to the shop yet so we still dont know the problem.

I was thinking, maybe it has something to do with the clutch peddle switch or sensor thing, or what ever you call it. I thought that if you cant start it with the clutch not pushed in, then maybe somethings wrong with that.

I have an Accord and I know it has this thing Im talking about. Its like a button.

If anyone knows what Im talking about, please help me out if you can.

Thanks!

You mean starting it with the clutch engaged (i.e. without pushing in the pedal)? The only way you can/should ever start a manual car is with the clutch disengaged (pedal in).

What I think you meant:

I'm pretty sure there is a killswitch that won't let the car try to turn over without the clutch pedal in. If there's a fault in the switch then it may not realize the clutch is in and wouldn't start.

Well, she finally took the car to the shop and they ran a diagnostic and said that it was a connector under the car somewhere.

All that trouble for a 5$ fix that I couldnt find.

Thank you all for the help!

Hey, all is well that ends well. I'll take a $5 fix anyday.
