I took in my 2000 to a dealership in phoenix today for an oil change and a check engine light. The service advisor said the codes came up cylinder missfire in 2 or 3 of the 6. I don't know if he did any further inspection of not. He say's it's the coils and I can except the bad ones being replaced but he says all 6 must be replaced because if not the new ones will just go bad again. Is this correct or are they just trying to up the price for the repair? Why can't I just have two of the coils replaced?

I don't see why replacing just the bad ones would cause the new ones to fail. That being said IIRC conventional wisdom is to replace all six coils at once.

You can replace one or all, it makes no difference. You can check the coils by following THIS

+1 like 10 times. Replacing the coils are one of the easiest things to do.
