I tried searching the forums but it seems that this was never really answered...

My question is how can the A/C auto shift knob be removed? It is hard to believe that it can't...

Can anyone shed some light on this?

If it is like the 2003 G35, then the little silver piece at the bottom of handle pulls down and then there is a clip that you have to slide off and then the handle lifts up and off.

Yep, that is how it comes off. Much easier to work on the audio/remove the cubby without the shift knob/plate. The spring clip pops off by hand, no tool needed. Be careful not to scratch the chrome cover when popping it downward (tiny scewdriver worked for me). This procedure is pictured in the online FSM.

Thanks for the heads up; I got it to come off.

I'm thinking of buying this MOMO shifter to go with my pedals... Not exactly sure if it will fit though.

Looks like it's made for round shafts, while the A/C is a bit oblong. Think I can make it fit, or am I **** out of luck as far as shift knobs go?
