Level groundVStar650CL wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 3:54 pmHow much throttle, decel, accel or cruising? Loaded or level ground?
Yes, a video would be helpful. You might simply have a cracked flex-pipe, they'll often be a murmur at idle or cruise but "open up" when accelerating because the added torque rocks the engine in the mounts. Cracks can be invisible at first, too, if the steel mesh covering isn't broken yet. However, you'll generally feel pulses of exhaust escaping through the mesh from underneath with the engine running..
Its what the dealership said it was..... I havent got it fixed yet (they wanted to charge me $575). I order the part, and will have it done at a local garage.... After watching a youtube they seem very difficult to remove.VStar650CL wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 10:02 amThat's kind of odd, usually front bearings make more noise the faster you go. Rears are different, you can leave the noise behind at highway speeds and it can seem to reduce the volume. Puzzling.
I had a new transmission put in in April 2019, was still under warranty then. Therefore the new one wouldve still been under warranty if that were the problem, but now it doesnt seem so.
well as mentioned, you can feel a vibration the gas pedal, and noise is similar to having a hole in the muffler. Start to hear it around 60kmh and peaks loudest at 75kmh, and then you dont hear it anymore passed 105 kmh or so.VStar650CL wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 8:24 amLike I said, puzzling. I hope it isn't a misdiagnosis. If you can get the front end in the air, turn off the VDC and run the wheel up to speed. A stethoscope (or in a pinch, a long screwdriver with the handle held to your ear) on the inside of the hub should reveal any noise. Healthy Nissan wheel bearings are almost dead silent at any speed, so any rumbling/ticking/clacking you hear means a bad bearing.
finally fixed... wheel bearing it was.VStar650CL wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 6:32 amNot exactly classic wheel bearing behavior. Usually bearing noise will be present at all speeds but louder as you go faster, and the typical deep "hum" from a bearing doesn't much resemble the drone of a bad muffler. I'm still wondering if you don't have a cracked flex pipe, with maybe a bad mount that caused it also giving you pedal vibration.
