Searched on windows AND battery and found nothing applicable.

When in my car with motor running (lights on & off, in D & P) and windows up, if I push the window switch as if I'm trying to put a window up, I can hear the motor dip somewhat.

In short I'm wondering if it's just a charateristic of the power window motors, or if the batt/alt may need attention.

Alt - orig as far as I knowBatt - Interstate Mega-tron <2 years old

Any ideas?

Normal..... Just to verify, when you press the button you hear the motor "click" or quasi engage, and the lights dim a bit?

If thats the case, it does that on EVERY car ive come in contact with..... some more than others!

I guess my question stemmed from the fact that if you try to lock the door and it's alrady locked nothing happens, but if I try to roll up a window that's already up, the engine bogs slightly, seemingly from alt/batt drain??

<I'm sure Q45Tech will know if it's normal>

Yeah, what your describing is normal..... The window motor doesnt know when its at the top so it keeps going till it stops....

Q45tech will confirm

Maybe it's the window motor drawing too much current? Doesn't sound normal to me.

They all do it, if they're already up all the way.

When either Q is running under remote start, the park lights flash on and off. Even that drain changes the idle speed slightly. I'd say the p/w motor drain is normal.

It should be just barely detectable..... Thats how it is in mine, at night if you look REAL close you can tell, and you can see the idle go down A TAD and the fan speed go down a little...

My lights go slightly dimmer (just a tiny little bit) when Im sitting at a stoplight right after the car has been started... Id say thats normal too....

You measure the battery voltage [while running] .THe regulator spec is 14.1-14.7 volts depending on temp.

At 1300 rpm the maximum capacity of alternator is 34 amperes vs 82 amps at 2,500 rpm.............105 amperes at 5,000 rpm only.

I'll bet it is <20 amperes at warm idle 700 rpm............just enough to run the car electronics [engine/transmission] and maybe the radio and heater fan on low.4 amps for fuel pump, 2 for injectors 2 for spark.
