This is one hot truck man.

I like the idea of the black bumper, but this is a great start!

love the project. for the rear bumper, try to find a rollpan for it. will smooth out the rear end and make it nice and clean. id paint the front valance (under the chrome bumper) flat black to match the flairs. will also make it easier to respray once you get tired of nose bleeds and really slam it. amazing project tho man. makes me want to build another mini truck.

Roll pan might not be a bad idea man, will have to see if we can find some bumperettes for it. I'm still so excited about how much we got accomplished man.

Looks great other than the rear bumper and the wheel lip not being black. Just reminds me too much of those useless 4x4 trucks. I think all black wheels would look much better.

Cleaned the wheel wells and undercarriage and then sprayed them with rustoleum flat black tonight. Cleaned everything up very nicely. With it dropped down you won't really see under it, but the visible frame rails and such are now black

Also properly secured / installed my turbine wheels with my new Gorilla extended shank mag lug nuts that came in yesterday (thanks Josh for ordering them up!)

Left it inside after doing the paint work so everything could dry up nicely since its a rainy day here in Cleveland.

Good to hear you got it all done. No prob on the lugs man, still don't know the finalized price on them. Lol So now you have lugs for FREE. Too bad you didn't take any pics tonight, but I'm sure it looks awesome. Hey did you have to use any more washers with those lugs bro?

Free is good. Done deal lol

As for the washers, they were the perfect length with just the one washer per lug that came with them. Fit great

Took it for a spin today after work. Probably going to bring it home tomorrow.

FYI I added up everything I've purchased for the truck down to nuts and bolts and added in the purchase price of the truck, and I'm still under $2,000 total into it. Budget project ftw

Took it out for its first extended drive since doing all the work. Also took it to my first car show/cruise in since the mods. The truck got quite the reaction....people definitely loved it

Ok, this truck is becoming truly awesome.

FLARES!

So you didn't cut the fenders? Do you plan to take it any lower? How much lower do you think it can go without cutting the fenders?

I'm looking at old Datto trucks now, but I'm only looking at really nice ones (I don't want to do substantial bodywork or pay for substantial bodywork), and obviously I'm not going to hack up the fenders of either a restored truck or a mint original. I'm curious to see how low you can go without hacking the fenders to bits with rivet-ons.

Oh, and apparently Watanabe *will* do custom 6-bolt patterns. I can sleep at night now.

Anyway, great work!

Thanks Hash. I didn't cut the fenders but I did roll them and do some shaping to flare them out a little under the flares, not much though. Currently the truck is lowered 3" and I'm sure I could go one more inch without issues of it hitting the fender/quarter, I would have some rubbing issues when turning though.

Best of luck on the truck search, clean examples are hard to find, but atleast the trucks are still affordable.

As for the Wats....they were definitely out of the budget for me, but I'm happy with the turbines I snagged for well under $100 for the set

Thanks for the compliments

Thanks bro, you have to see it in person

The bumper is still silver. The sun was super bright so it washed it out a little. I definitely need to lose the rear bumper, it doesn't flow with it anymore. Trying to locate some factory bumperettes for it to toss on before the old school ratrod show in August.

Well I've put over 100 miles on the truck since getting it together and I gotta say....the amount of looks this thing gets is insane! I'm sure most of them are people wondering what the heck it is haha.

My brother (with the white Plymouth Fury) and I decided to go to a local benefit car show on Sunday and I figured I'd take the truck so I snapped a couple pics

Thats some sweet work you did with the pickup. My pop had that same truck when I was growing up and I inherited it when I got my license, then I passed it down to my two little brothers when they both got theirs. Thing went through hell and back and still lives to this day.

That truck is so cool!!!! Soooo much character!

I agree with painting the bumper a darker color. I say either a dark gray, black, or color matched to the body.
