Got the truck running again last night, turns out my ignition switch had taken a dump on me. Thankfully it wasn't an open somewhere in the harness. I'll probably work on it some more tomorrow, do some fine tuning to get it running a little smoother. Anyways, tossed in the new ignition switch, installed the valve cover, and Josh was nice enough to repaint the upper endtank on my radiator for me

I like it, leave it the way it is. No black outlining.

Now you need WATS.

As much as I'd like to, they're way out of the budget and damn near impossible to find in 6 lug. Plus I've got some old school wide wheels, just need the tires and flares to fit them up

You know... after seeing it on the truck, and with PERFECT 20-20 hindsight, I'd have the sun located on the front drvier's side of the engine... oppisite of where it is now.

Not trying to be too critical - it still looks great.

I'm glad we could make a little progress last night man. Painting the radiator took a whole minute, so no biggie. Definitely Can't wait to see it driving around again. Another note, that freaking bug was creepy! Your skink definitely ate it without even thinking about it. "GAME OVER"

Well the truck is long since away in storage for the winter but I figured I'd add a few pics of things I've picked up for it.

I got an old wood Datsun steering wheel for it, this is the picture from the ebay auction but it cleaned up really nice and I tossed it on the truck before I put it away for the winter but didn't think to snap any pics.

I also got my hands on a set of correct fender mirrors for it since I decided to sell the black ones I posted earlier in this thread because they didn't look right. They're old and used but in pretty good shape. Will look real good on the truck

Managed to come across another set of fender emblems that are in very good shape with all tabs intact so I bought them as spares

Here's a picture of a 521 lowered with the fender mirrors incase anybody was wondering how they will look

So hopefully I'll be able to pick up a set of flares this winter so I can put the wheels on and drop it in the spring when I'm installing everything else

I brought the truck out of storage and I've had it up at the dealership tinkering with it here and there to improve the drivability with the side draft carbs by making some modifications. We've made good progress and its much improved. On a test drive last week the front seam on my fuel tank sprung a leak though So the search began for a replacement fuel tank.....

So in true ratrod style I decided to go with a spun aluminum tank which I picked up today

Its an Empi 11 gallon tank which came with the chrome cap and the two powdercoated brackets. The welds are awesome and I'm super pleased. I'm going to mount it in the bed similar to this setup, except mine will be closer to the cab.

I also picked up an OEM Datsun radio delete panel for the truck so I will be selling the B210 factory radio which I have in the truck now.

Tank looks freakin sweet Jerry.

Seriously though, wheels, flares, mirrors. You've held out on us long enough.

Removed the stock tank today after work and prepped everything to install the new tank another day. Should go nice and easy as all the hard work is out of the way

Soon enough gents I finally have worked a deal on a set of flares so they should be here in a couple weeks. Between now and then I'm going to get working on freeing up the rusted torsion bars so I can index them and pick up some drop blocks for the rear.

I'll probably order them up later this month...so not too long

Anyway.....installed the fuel tank today and indexed the torsion bars to drop it down. Went from 4" of wheel gap to 1.5" in the front. Will go lower once I get the new wheel/tire combo on and have an idea of how low I can go.

Stock tank....the nastiest most rusty part under the truck

Me making love to the....errr.....installing the spun aluminum fuel tank

In the bed!

Much less wheel gap up front....don't mind the rake....I have to order up drop blocks for the rear

Next to an F150
