I'm trying to find tires in the size I need without spending a fortune and not having any luck. It is a 500 dollar truck afterall, I don't want to spend a lot on tires.

New old stock parts hunters eat your hearts out.....my NOS rockers

Also, tossed the wheels on tonight to get an idea of how large of a flare I'm going to need......well the wheels are indeed HUGE. I'm going to need like a 3" flare and stretch a little tire to make it happen. Going to have to find some kind of flare to make fit. Make the truck fit the wheels, not the wheels fit the truck right?

ok so the fender mirrors I bought are out. I was messing around with the truck this morning and I don't really care for how that style mirror looks on the truck. Guess I'll just have to hold out until I can source a set of s30 fender mirrors for it or something similar.

LOL. . Those wheels look like the mid 80's turbines that you would find on Dodge trucks.

They are indeed turbines. You see them on a lot of 50's/60's/70's pickups around here. Should look good when fitted up with some s30 style flares as they will give that truck look and also the flared old lowered japanese style.

I agree with you there, I think fender mirrors are the way to go, but those black plastic ones just wouldn't fit right with the old school mantra of the truck.

No mirrors huh? Personally I didn't think they'd look right on there maybe a 720 or so. I can't wait for the flares and wheels on the truck. I still can't believe how big those looked last night.

Ok, the fab work on the block off plates and the bracketing/bracing for the throttle linkage to throttle cable conversion is done. All of the emissions/smog stuff is eliminated, fuel lines are run and all that's left to do is tune and sync the carbs. It looks so clean and simplified

Truck start, runs, and sounds pissed Its good to have it running again as its been quite awhile. With that in mind, don't mind the filth under the hood, its been parked for a few months.

Hopefully one day this week. I'm anxious to get it out and cruise in it again

Also, I felt the need to clean the truck after seeing how dirty it was in the pics above. So here's a couple after an inside/outside/engine bay detailing

When I find some tires and flares in the size I want for cheap. No rush IMO.

A lot of times I want to dump a bunch of money into this and then I remind myself that its a $500 rusty truck that was/is intended to be a budget project

Did you steal those wheels off the General Lee?

Now you just HAVE to jump it off stuff, shoot arrows with sticks of dynamite attached to them from the passenger seat, run from Roscoe, and yell "YEEEEEEEE HAWWWWW" at least 10 times a day.

the general lee finned wheels like that used to be a hot ticket on S30's and a good bit more of the classic imports.

****...my friend's dad might have a set FOR an S30 in his garage still....

Worked on the truck most of the day today, didn't get near as much done as I wanted to as we ran into a starting problem (which will need to be figured out this week before the car culture show) but here's what we did get done....

Scored a mint 510 grill emblem that I fit up to the truck with very minor modification

Installed some new battery cable ends as the old ones, particularly the ground, were ancient and in horrible condition as you see....

Then we installed some velocity stacks that Josh and I fabbed up out of factory air cleaner parts....not bad for free!

As I'm sure you noticed above....the valve cover isn't there, and we'll get to why in a moment. Anyway, upon removing it I came across a pleasant surprise. Completely spotless and clean on the top side of the head. No sludge, hell everything looks like it was just rebuilt. Who woulda thunk it?

Token picture of me doing work.....

So I'm doing something a little unique with the valve cover on the truck. Here's some pictures of the primer and base coat. Its not going to be a solid color. Anybody have any guesses as to what its going to be? Finished pictures coming this week

I swear its not a fire engine or finished lol
