Hello everyone.

I have INJEN intake install on my car and I love it. I think I put about 10,000 miles on it by now if not little more.I know that I could get INJEN intake cleaner but I dont want to take chance of over oiling it and mess up my MAF sensor. I know how much PITA to get it replaced. Cost me almost $800 on my 05 SE when the MAF blew when MAF housing broke in half when it was attached to BERK v2 intake.

So... I want to get the filter replaced.

My question is... how often do you replace/clean your filter? I live in NYC.And... where do you order it?? Any site you guys can recommend?

Thanks in advance. =)

I understand your paranoid about over oiling due to a past experience but you really don't need to purchase a new one.

I clean mine every 10,000 miles or so with the K&N kit that can be purchased at a local auto store. I guarantee you'll be fine if you follow the instructions. Don't waste money purchasing a new filter man!

i have a question. i currently have a injen intake. how much would it cost for me to buy a dry filter that would fit the intake? Would it be cheaper in the long run to buy a dry filter or buy a recharge kit?

is there any difference between the oiled and dry filter, except for the obvious reason?

I spent about $45 for an AEM Dryflow. I don't know if it's cheaper in the long run, but it is more convenient because you'll be able to drive using the spare filter while the other one is being cleaned/drying out. Plus, no re-oiling if you go dry. Well worth it in my book.

Ok... so.. I got K&N intake cleaner and cleaned it... oiled it and all that.

After about a week ... SES light turned on. I looked up the code and it said 0507.I looked up the code and it said something about idle RPM is higher than normal. Now for some reason... SES comes and goes almost every 2 days.

So.. maybe I thought I didnt do good job cleaning it.. so ordered a new filter for my INJEN. It's been a day since installing new intake and still SES light is on.

Any ideas guys?

No... I dont want to take it to the dealership for obvious reasons.

My brother warned me about getting an oil filter for problems like this. However I just picked up the Injen today, I was sooo stoked when I heard it.

Why do you have to re-oil it? i mean once you clean it wouldnt it work as a dry filter? whats the difference between a dry and an oil filter aside from the obvious in how they work?

Im not a expert on all this but maybe dry filter and oiled filters are made different maybe? I mean.. lets say you cleaned your oiled filter... dried it and installed it again without oiling it might not give good filteraton. Origianlly dry filters might be made different so it could filter without oil.But this is me talking and I dont know much about it. Just using common sense.

Anyway... UPDATE~~~

I searched all over the internet for solution of P0507.

DTC detecting condition:

•The idle speed is more than the target idle speed by 200 rpm or more.

Possible cause:

•Electric throttle control actuator•Intake air leak•PCV system

After reading this... I went to my car and check idle RPM and yes... it was close to 750-850 rpm.

So I looked all over internet for solution and found out that I should do idle air volume learn .. or something like that.

I did the precedure and check all my intake components and checked for loose clamps.

SES light did NOT turn off lastnight when I did all this.

This morning... I autostarted my car. WHen I got in the car... SES light was OFF and RPM was at normnal range around 650-700 RPM.

Hopefully it stays off.

You need to re oil the Injen filters to keep their filtering efficency. Oil filters are usually made using cotton, and the high tack oil keeps the cotton from falling apart/ creating thin spots due to airflow.

The oil also acts as a filtering agent somewhat in that it gets particles to stick to it.

You can switch to a dry filter with no issue if you are worried about how to oil the filter.

Cotton Gauze filters initially (read = when perfectly clean) don't filter well, but flow really well. Once they get dirty, they filter better, but flow worse.

I personally don't like having the oil them and worrying about initial filtration, so I have AEM Dry Flows on my wife's car. My G came with the stupid K&N drop-in and I haven't decided if I want to invest $300 in an AEM intake.

The oil is tacky and makes the dirty/dust stick to it instead of just tumbling through the filter holes. The dry filters are synthetic and have much finer filtering from the get-go, but sometimes at the cost of flow.

you can always order the new AMSOIL filter that comes with the INJEN intakes. They're blue and I believe they are dry filters...They still run for $55 or so...

The injen intakes used to come with red "wet" filters and now they come with blue "dry" filters?

Or am I wrong and the new blue ones the injen comes with still "wet"?

if the new filters are red and the K&N charging oil is red...then if you spray the red oil on the blue filter, wouldn't that make it...purple

I think the blue filters are dry tho so they don't need oiling
