thanks for looking,

i have a couple problems, 1 is i cant get the lower timing cover off to put in a new water pump, and the other is the alignment pins are being really stuborn.

1)got off all the bolts, the only thing i didnt remove was the crank pulley, someone said that it wasnt neccesary. its wiggling around nice, but keep getting stoped by the water pump.

2)take off my old clutch, sand and clean flywheel, then try to pull a laignment pins and it wont go. to verify (i am 99% pulling on the right thing. there are three of them right now, and they go next too the bolts when you bolt them in)should i hit them up with a lighter or a torch type thing?

really getting stupmed here, kinda bumming me out. anyhelp is apreciated!

thanks,matt

1. take the crank pulley off.. can't remember if you need to (pretty sure I did), but regardless its real easy to do. Get a big rubber mallet and you can whack the crap out of it till it comes off. DON'T use something hard, like a metal hammer... you'll break chunks of it off. Don't ask how I know.

2. get a pair of vice grips and pull! and go change out of that skirt you woman

good luck!

thanks lol, even my dad tried to pull it off and got denied:(

wht do you think about me drilling a small hole for the 3rd alignment pin? just gently drill a small one where the 3rd one would go? i tihnk thats my best be, if i cant get the alingment pin out.

also, i have an impact wrench/compressor, but the gun is pretty weak, i dont know if its strong enoug to get it off. ill try.

thanks for the suggestions and keep em coming!matt

edit* i think the people that didnt need to remove the crnak pulley might have nt had power steering..., that cuold be my problem.

i just got one of those lighters that are cxommonly used with fireplaces and bbq's, the longer ones, and heated the pin for about 15 seconds, then wiggled it and it popped right off, i am very excited,

but back to the timing cover argh!

no there's not a pin.

yes! it would be a bad idea to heat it (there's a rubber insulator in crank pulley itself you could damage.

thats what I was telling you to whack with a hammer. It gets rusted on there and doesn't like to come off. You can also get a pulley puller from an auto parts store and pull it that way.

i tried to wack it with the rubber side of a hammer, the gripping part (you said not to use the metal side) then i just went crazy and started wigleing and pulling and shaking forprob. 30 seconds and got tired.

i am just gonna go to a auto store tommorw i guess...thanks alot sean.
