Another suggestion on making a clean AIV removal: Trace the vaccuum lines back to the throttle body and remove them. You can use the U-shaped vaccuum hose on the selonoid (next to the electrical connector) to plug off the lines. Two less hoses under your hood.

I was thinking... what if you just unplugged the vacuum lines, crammed some stuff inside to plug it up, then reconnected them back to the AIV? It would be the same as removing the AIV, but visually, it still appears to be connected. Would something like this work and pass the visual part of a smog check?

I removed mine today, mainly due to the fact that I'm running a 1995 manifold and it wasn't hooked to anything. I'm glad I did to, it fixed the miss it had under heavy acceleration that has been driving me crazy.

Oh and used the "double nickel" method of plugging the hole in the exhaust, works great.

I used HELP! 3/4" bypass caps for the stock air box, and the metal hose from the exhaust manifold part #02254 and 7/32" rubber caps for the two small rubber hoses part #47392 (proably could use a 1/4" size as well)
