ok yesterday I was making my home made air intake, and when we got it all together- air intake tubing, air flow sensor, breather hoses and breather and all that stuff; it wouldnt idle. I have a couple guesses, the ecu wont agree with all the air it is getting, or does the air flow sensor have to be in a certain spot? we have the plug for the air flow sensor facing up, should it face sideways? if you know please help me out, I really want it to work.

I relocated my battery to the trunk, and where my battery was i put my intake, so i used a short bend of tubing- 90 degree bend. my air flow sensor is connected right after the throttle body, then the tubing then the fliter. If you need more information yet, tell me.

It's something with your mafs...probably just too close like lepchitz1 said..but also make sure the plug is in tight~

The MAS needs to be away from heat... it needs to be nearest the filter element.

Also make sure you didn't break the little filliment in the MAF.. if you did... that's going to cost you... it is very delicate... I did it and it cost me $60 to get a new one and one week of myc ar being down!!! pain in the arse... I got it from a junk yeard in NJ. and I live in Cali... a new one form Nissan will be like $200+

our MAF are very vey sensative to air velocity, being that close to the throttle body can easily cause a problem. so yeh relcate nearest to the filter and let use no how things go

Also, make sure you do something will all of your vacuum hoses and such. Put some of those mini filters on the spots where the hoses went. Also, you probably have a hole on your MAFS since it's not connected to the AIV anymore, so you'll want to close any holes up on the MAFS.

hey, when making the custom intake, what do you do with the exhaust or whatever side of the aiv? do you put a mini filter on it?
