If you open the drivers side door, there is a button on the door jamb (on the unibody itself). It has black rubber over it. It is the door that turns on the interior dome light when you open the door. When you press the button (either by closing the door or pushing it with your finger), the interior lights turn off. This button is also used for resetting the airbag light. But - if your SRS light started flashing for no reason, you want to have the whole system checked out. If it started flashing because you unhooked your airbag, for example if you removed a front seat to clean the carpet underneath (the seats have airbags in them), then you are fine and should simply reset it using the above method. The Nissan dealer charges $400+ for the same procedure.

Similar story, similar results here too with a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. Got a new stereo installed, and got a bonus with the blinking airbag light on the instrument panel. Got nowhere with the 7x or 10x domelight press-the-switch voodoo. Bounced into another forum and got the fix that works for my SUV. For the 2007 Pathfinder owners out there: It took a little patience, as this procedure took me 2 attempts, but this definitely worked for my 2007 Nissan Pathfinder:

1. Key in, ignition turned to on (but don't start truck).2. Pay attention to the 4 beeps and watch the dash lights. You're looking for the airbag light to go out just after the last beep.3. As soon as the light goes out (but BEFORE it begins blinking on you) QUICKLY switch the key back to OFF. Don't remove the key yet.4. After about 2 or 3 seconds, repeat steps 1 - 3. In total you will do this procedure about 3 times. I say "about" because this all took a couple of attempts, but it was at least 3 cycles.5. After your last cycle, wait about 5 seconds and turn the key to ON again, and just observe the dash for the airbag light. It should go out and stay out. If not, try it again but maybe add an additional cycle.

Like I said, it took me a couple of attempts but it worked.

All credit must go to the thread at this forum: http://www.carsforums.com/show...65692, with special thanks to the poster "LB" .

Thank you very much. I have a 2005 nissan quest. I removed The driver and passenger seats to install lcd head rests. after the installation the passenger airbag and seat belt light are always on when i'm driving. I tried your method and Amen it worked like a charm. but like you said you have to do at least 3 cycles. Thanks man appreciate the help. Nissan was charging big $$$ to do such a simple procedure.

2006 Pathfinder LE

I had disassembled dash to install aftermarket DVD player, reinstalled everything, then got flashing SRS (air bag) light.. Did this procedure once, then light slowed down to a slow flash, did it once more, but 4 repetitions instead of the 3, and light went off and stayed off! Thanks!!

This worked for me as well. Just curious if it was a real issue with the air bag.. will the light turn back on again? I am hoping its not a real issue.. however if it is.. i would like to know so i can get it serviced...

Any ideas?

Yes, if the problem reoccurs then the light will illuminate again. If that's the case, then you definitely need to have the code pulled and see what the issue is.

Hi just like to say the proceedure worked for me on my 2007 Adventura. Now i just need to know why I was nearly killed on the M25 when my electric seat went forward and the back pushed me into the steering wheel so hard the horn went off. It keeps doing silly things like the back going down all the way to the center row or the bottom seat swob going upand down.People did not believe me until it happened to my mate when l let him drive.Sometimes when I get out and put pressure on the right side of the seat the back drops eother forward or back. It still has 4 months warranty left and is booked in but thats not the point.Any help would be appreciatedregardsthenoname

Thanks fueler and all you guys and gals for the posts....Just bought a 2000 Infiniti Qx4. I moved the driver's side seat one morning just by using the automatic seat levers and the airbag light started flashing. Not sure if there was a short or a bad connection under the seat. I did all the recommendations but "pressing the dome light button ten times did the trick. What a relief and thanks again for all your help and advice. :rotfl

I have an 01 pathy and an 08 maxima. The alternator went out on the max and when a friend tried to jump it off he conected the wires backwards and fried my master fuse and radio. After $766.00 to Nissan without the radio I purchased one off eBay and installed it myself. Then next day went to drive and airbag light flashing! I thought not another $500.00+ trip to Nissan. I found this thread and thought I'd try it. I did the on off ignition method and did 4 cycles to be safe and worked first time!!!!! Thanks for the help this is truely like a family here!!

Installed new Stereo in 2006 Pathfinder. Same thing - blinking air bag light. What eratic8 said worked for me, but you may just do it a few more times than 3.

1. Key in, ignition turned to on (but don't start truck).
2. Pay attention to the 4 beeps and watch the dash lights. You're looking for the airbag light to go out just after the last beep.
3. As soon as the light goes out (but BEFORE it begins blinking on you) QUICKLY switch the key back to OFF. Don't remove the key yet.
4. After about 2 or 3 seconds, repeat steps 1 - 3. In total you will do this procedure about 3 times. I say "about" because this all took a couple of attempts, but it was at least 3 cycles.
5. After your last cycle, wait about 5 seconds and turn the key to ON again, and just observe the dash for the airbag light. It should go out and stay out. If not, try it again but maybe add an additional cycle.

Airbag warning light was blinking. Dealer says "need to repalce the Drivers Air Bag Module & Spiral Cable" . The Cost? $1,395.95 What???? My 2008 Pathfinder has only 87K miles and is right at 6 years old. Found your posts on this site and your method using the ingnition on and off again worked. Now that I recall, the dealer had to make some adjustments to the drivers seat about 2 months ago. Soon after the Airbag light started blinking. Thank you for your post. I am now a member. You guys rock!

:welcome: to NICO! Those seat connectors can be really sensitive. The wife's G developed the flashing light problem after the dealership replaced her seat track. Apparently re-attaching the connectors to the bottom of the seat was too much for the tech to bother with, so they were just dangling under there to catch on the heat duct.

If everything above doesn't work then watch the video and should solve it. By the way I have a 2002 Infinity QX4.

Just wanted to say thanks to eratic8 for posting instructions.
I have a 2005 Nissan Xterra and had to remove the passenger seat for cleaning. When I reinstalled the seat I had the red flashing indicator light as described by many above. Those instructions worked perfectly!!! I'm sure it saved me a ton of $$$.

You know, it's this kind of dealership B.S. that just drives me crazy.
I can understand an independent service garage, that doesn't fix Nissans on a regular basis, not knowing about these reset procedures, but when the dealership knowingly tries to rip you off, that's an entirely different matter.

It's the same story with the driver's side window reset procedure.
Most of you on here are familiar with the problem where the driver's side window goes all the way up, and then drops about 4 inches.
The reset procedure is a five minute thing, and involves no parts replacement. I can guarantee that the techs at Nissan know about this.
What do they do instead? Try to convince you that you need a new motor, or maybe a new control unit, or sensor(s), or whatever. It's robbery, plain and simple.

I've been lucky in that my dealership was a good place to go. Same staff, same techs for many years. I knew them and they knew me.
Last year the dealership changed ownership, and huge changes followed.
All of the tenured service advisors were replaced, along with 90% of the techs.
Today, I hardly know anyone there, and the atmosphere in the place has completely changed, and not for the better.
The few people that are left working there from the old regime are miserable.
I doubt I'll be going there again.

My 2012 Pathfinder had flashing airbag light. Took it into Valencia Nissan in California since vehicle is still under warranty. After couple hours the technician comes back and asks if the car was in a car accident. I reply yes but that was two years ago and it was very minor. The airbags did not deploy but the insurance replaced the entire bumper because the car only had 1500 miles.
Anyways the tech found error code B1033 crash zone sensor and needs to replace part 98820-9CE9A - Side air sensor $492.03 and 98581-9BD8A - air bag sensor $147.28 plus another $375.00 for installation. None of this is covered under warranty because of the accident two years ago. They advise i call the repair shop or contact my insurance company. While in the parking lot I try the reset procedure and the light goes away. I go back to the technician and ask him what's going on? Did the service guy reset the system before checking the codes? He doesn't know but the technician is gone for the next week. Wants me to bring the car back for another test. Told them I was taking to another dealership to have them test the car.
