Aguascalientes Halts Production (for now)

Nissan's Aguascalients factory has been idle. This is the factory that builds the Versa and Sentra for the U.S.. The reason for the hold on production is the downtown in the U.S. economy. See this:

The line did stop for at least seven days in March. Stopping a line for seven days is a HUGE deal, which costs millions and millions in dollars. In the 80s, I was in the manufacturing side of a certain well-known Japanese automotive company. I remember our management saying that if "my" line stopped for ten days, the company would be declaring a bankruptcy. It can be that big a deal. Delcaring a line "idle" is not something a company would do, unless it is a serious situation.

don't be to concerned unless your GM They just laid off the entire Lordstown plant indefantely the make to G6 and the Chevy Colbalt.

There's an ongoing strike at a major parts supplier right now that is having a ripple effect on lots of other suppliers and the US auto makers themselves. Indefinite layoffs everywhere.

Yes it does suck. More so when 1000+ people get laid off when you do because then its 1000+ people competing for the same jobs locally. Ouch.
