Turbo magazine, sister to import tuner magazine, has done a 750hp KA24DET build with the help of the founder of enjuku racing, whose first car happened to be a '95 240SX with a KA24DE (which is why enjuku was originally the go to place for anything Nissan). It requires a crap load of cash and time cuz you bore it from a 2.4 to a 2.6 and up size your head bolts from 10 mil to 11 mil, scrap the stock semi countered crank for a fully countered crank which involves modding the block by grinding to fit it. I've driven some very high hp small cube motors, they all have one thing in common, huge amounts of turbo lag. Not a lot of SR transmissions lying around though. By going with an LSx you can have a motor that makes over 300ft lbs of torque at throttle tip in, by just dropping it in. With a cam, intake and rom tune you can make over 500 ft lbs. We're talking about a car that pushes you into your seat from the second you touch the go peddle to the point where you lift. Traction will be a thing of the past.
I love the KA, but it will never beat the LS series where power is concerned.
