We just bought this 2020 Sport and figured out it has no remote hatch release, nor a button on the dash. Wife was having a bit of a problem getting the hatch up, I went out and noticed one has to lift it a bit before it lifts on it's own, rather slowly.

I figured the struts are getting a bit weak, so looked for a pair on Amazon. Wanted to ask here if that was normal and also is it possible to install a factory dash switch and related components, maybe getting all the parts off a wrecked Sport?

The Sport didn't come with an inside release, but you can easily add one by T-tapping the release wire under the dash at the BCM. The BCM is right there when you pull the lefthand lower dash. T-tap the Light Green wire indicated below and run it to a momentary pushbutton connected to ground. The struts aren't supposed to be strong enough to lift the hatch by themselves, but if the actuator sticks on the half latch you can always add some foam to the left and right perimeters to add a little spring to the release.

thanks for that! There are some blank switch covers on the row of switch left of the steering wheel that would fit a MC switch. So now wondering if these struts are losing the charge or it's normal for them to require some help.

It's normal, the hatch isn't supposed to just pop up. You can get stronger ones from McMaster-Carr if you want it to do that, but you might need to DIY different ball mounts. I think the hatch button from a gen2 Rogue ('16~'20) will fit the holes in your Qashqai dash, you might want to visit the JY and get one with the pigtail. I can tell you how to wire it.

Thanks for that again. I appreciate the time you spend here, always giving spot on advice from your years as a tech.

I'll pop a blank off the Sport's switch row to bring with me to the JY to make sure it fits. Might wait for the temps to drop, it's hell in south Louisiana right now.

Yep, bad enough here in Arkansas. I pity you poor souls deeper south right now. The mug is loose!

Digging into this more before I visit the JY. They have a 2017 rogue there, plan to get the hatch switch and pigtail there. did a little searching for removal of dash control button assembly, also saw how to run a wire to the rear but unsure if I need to do that. Wondering what the rest of the procedure entails.

You won't need to route any wires except under the dash. Like I said, the BCM is right there.

OK I pulled the lower dash off removed the row of switches. Saw how to do the mod like you described. JY had a 2017 Rogue, went there and it didn't have a hatch release switch either. I did get an extra ECO mode switch and the pigtail. Doubt there's any momentary contact pins there but will check with a dmm.

Stopped by Oreilleys, they didn't have the small t-taps or momentary contact switch I could install so I guess I'll look online for a switch that will blend in.

You need to find one with a power hatch. The unpowered ones didn't have an inside button, just the outside release like your Sport.

Lesson learned. Should have run the vin on that one before I went. It's the closest one to my rural location. That was the only 2nd gen rogue they had. Is there a certain trim level that has power latch?

Beside the point really. I got decent looking MMC switch coming that will look decent in a blank.

All of the SL's and most of the SV's. I'm pretty sure none of the S's had power.

Well got it all in there after several false starts. Not working yet but had to button it up so the wife can use it tomorrow. Guess I'll get the dmm out and check the switch itself. I used a red 22-18 ga t-tap. Not real sure about the t-tap, removed it and used another in the same spot.

Including a pic of the light green wire I tapped into. If need be I can peel back a little insulation solder it in instead of t-tap.

Aargh, I hate when Nissan still produces Japlish documentation after all these years. They have two different switches listed as "Back Door Opener" on the diagram, but I think the one I gave you is actually "Open" and not "Opener". Try the Yellow wire on pin 16, same connector.

I do. I know better than to trust the documentation without a continuous Japlish inspection. My bad.

Unless you're older than 71, I'm afraid I already know what you're talking about.

It worked with yellow wire, after I peeled back a bit of insulation and soldered the wire to it. Need to hunt down some foam exercise mats to mount I guess right under lock or maybe on the corners to release the lock.
