I was wondering where to find more info on this learning transmission in the F50’s. I’m not sure if previous Q’s had adaptive transmissions or not, however the only info I can find is just the fact that is a adaptive transmission.. Since this transmission is used from Xterra, Pathfinder, Titan, and the Q and probably some more Nissan products, is this adaptability something unique to the Q? Does this RE5R05A transmission perform adaptive learning in all forms?

Ultimately my final question is- how many shift pattern maps does this adaptable transmission have to choose from?
Are there multiple economy patterns and multiple aggressive patterns? My guess is there are probably just 2-

Lastly- how are these patterns monitored and at what point will the adaptive portion determine if a new pattern is necessary?

Will a simple battery disconnect (over-night?) prompt the transmission to choose a new pattern?

I would like to know what the default map (shift pattern) would feel like. I wish I could decide if I wanted it to do this. I’m afraid to find out that this may be a bs sales tactic since I can’t find difference between the say, Xterras transmission and mine- they both are RE5R05A.
This adaptability would be in the programmed shift points for each vehicle based on what motor it is attached to and vehicle weight I assume.
Has anyone here ever looked into the program and saw any coding for adaptive learning?

Sorry for the necro but I have some info on the adaptive transmission and there's basically nothing online except this. I just took my '02 Q45 into the dealer to have it worked on, and I asked for the shift timing update I had read about in later Qs. They were able to give it to me (for $300 :rotfl ) but he told me it needs to be driven for 500 miles before it "learns". So that's really all I got, I have all the same questions as you but that's something.

I've noted that when adaptations are ' reset ' the cars drive more spirited , not necessarilly good on gas mileage though. It is ALL in the TCM this adaptive tech , and it would be interesting if someone on here could " Hack " TCM's and wire-in like a reset pushbutton , to clear the learning - IF one thinks the car gets sluggish . or IF one does'nt like the learn patterns that become established quickly .
Like a simple external ckt with a dash pushbutton ?
