Is there any other way of fixing the active suspension without paying the outrageously steep dealer cost for Q45a? Changing to the regular shocks or recharging the whatever the part name is? Can anybody help me with this problem? The ride is really bumpy and rough. Otherwise, it is still a dependable car

Thanks,

Sean

Welcome to the board, Sean.

Board member Texasoil offers recharged accumulators for far less than the dealers. http://www.q45asuspension.com/

http://www.everythinginfiniti.com offers kits to convert to standard set-up, but it is labor intensive to do properly.

Might try a search on active and look at all of Texasoil's posts. There is a lot of information here to be found.

Most of the time it even more economical to fix the active suspension, unless its completely trashed-- than it is to buy the conversion kit...

Plus you can know that you would have one of the best riding and handling cars of the decade!! :)

Basically, the first thing you wanna replace is the accumulators.... Total of 5, you can just replace 4 and still have good results..... Then if the shocks are leaking or worn then you can replace those....

What year is your A.... if its a 93/94, chances are its still salvageable and could be brought up to as new not too expensive!

I also have a 94 Q45a with 78,000 miles. When I bought it the active suspension was riding very hard. I exchanged the 4 strut accumulators with recharged units from Texasoil. They were $250 each. The difference was like night and day and now the car has a very comfortable ride.

There are a total of nine (9) accumulators that should be charged.

It was cheaper to have mine converted to a standard suspension than to rehab the active suspension.

I see that Joe has a great deal on the conversion kit.

In theory a used active car should sell for $3-4,000 less than just a standard Q, but since the public doesn't understand the costs associated they sell for more becuase the MSRP was much more.

Same with the air suspension on Lexus which can cost $4,000 to replace the struts alone.

Ok, Keith. I've ordered 2 cans of suspension fluid and let's see what happens when I fill up the reservoir and test the self diagnostics. I'll let you know asap.

Thanks,

Sean
