do you know if Nissan dealers today can still retrofit options on the old Hardbody trucks? Like for example my 1988 Nissan Pickup 2WD has No Air Conditioning in it and can dealers install to this day?

Parts for these trucks are being obsoleted and removed from inventory at an alarming rate. The dealer can do anything you ask so long as the pdc's still have the parts available. Once a particular part is sold out the chances of Nissan restocking the part is closer to 0%. If you want to add AC I'd consider raiding a junk yard truck for any good parts you can find. I'll be removing the AC from my green truck this year if you wanna make an offer on those parts.

Correct, the 1988 trucks came with R12 but that was banned from use and most manufacturers had switched to R134A by 1995. You will need to install a R134a system or retrofit a r12 system to R134a. While not everything will transfer from my truck to yours a lot of it will and you will be ahead of the game since it's already R134A.

But is the set up same for all the hardbodys? So when I do install a R134A system, do I have to change anything (such as wiring etc?) for the R134A System to work?
