I'm looking to buy a Versa Sedan SL and after looking at the dealers in my area one car in particular fits best with the combination of packages I wanted. I wanted the convenience package and did not want the moon roof package. However, it does not have the ABS package on it and I've heard this is definitely a package to get on the Versa. I wanted to get some opinions on that as well as whether or not anyone knows if that can be put on the car after purchase.

From what I know, you cannot put ABS on once the car is built. But im not too sure about it. But you can buy a Versa with everything you want on it and they have an ABS package for it.

The ABS package was worth it to me because of the insurance discount. I got a 20% discount just for having the option...it will eventually pay for itself.

I also wanted the same packages (convenience and ABS) for a hatchback. The dealership I went to said factory has to install the ABS, not at dealership.

I am sure most dealerships can get cars of the exact spec for you. Just a matter of price...

From my experiences they can. You just pay for what your wanting on. You tell them what you want, and they order it.

On the '07's, you had to get the moonroof and audio packages if you got the convenience and ABS together.

On '08's, that's no longer the case. You can get the two together without any other MAJOR items requires (I think you may need something like splash guards or kick plates).

The Convenience package CANNOT be refit afterwards, there's too much wiring and changing of modules, plus hunting down modules that didn't exist before hand.

ABS CAN be refit after the fact, but it will cost several THOUSAND dollars, vs. the $250 it costs to get it from the factory.

If you want both together and can't find one nearby, the best thing to do would be to have your dealer special-order one. That way you get what you want, for the right price, and don't have to worry about the mess.
