Hello,
I'm so glad I found this site. I just recently picked up a 1990 300ZX and I'm diggin it, a lot. I do have some questions though, first one is the brake light comes on every time I activate the brake, the guy I bought the car from says this is normal, is it?? Second one is the ABS light just starting coming on sporadically but I'm not hearing any noise when it does. I checked out the forums and not quite sure if I found the right answer to my question. Are these 2 events tied together? Thanks

Brake light or a light coming in when you hit the brake?

There are two separate lights. If the brake light comes on check your fluid. If the light the looks like a light come on, its probably because you have a light out.

ABS light means something is going on with the ABS system. You can check the system to see what codes come up. Yes, it could be intertwined. Like the master cylinder is low and letting air into the system.

thanks for the response, I checked the fluid and it's good. I checked the brake lights and they all work. The light on the dash(the red brake light) comes on everytime I depress the brake pedal and the
ABS light comes on and than stays on after a few minutes. I checked the stopping of the vehicle and it stops very fast, but I don't feel anything in the pedal. such as stuttering like I thought ABS would.
I'm thinking maybe air in the line? I don't hear any noise except for what I think is the power antenna. All help is very much appreciated!

Check for codes then. You have an issue with the ABS system. Could be a sensor or could be air in the lines or could be the pump. You will feel a spongy pedal if you had air in the lines, so may not be that, but it would not be a bad idea to bleed them. Just follow the procedure on bleeding the brakes in the FSM.

I havent tried it, but it seems easy enough.

The brake light coming on when braking is a bad relay, mine in my NA was also bad but I never replaced it.
The ABS however as stated is a bigger issue, either the ABS or sensor or connector perhaps...try the fsm for any tests or diagnosis.
