I'm about to buy a 96 240sx. It looks to be in excellent condition. 5 speed, 82K miles, leather  and appears to be in really good condition. They are asking $7895 for it.

Will this be a good platform to drop an Sr20 into?? That's the ultimate goal, but I'll have to save some money first probably.

Please give me your opinions on this! I might buy the car within a day or so. Please post right away!

It sounds like a great deal for a s14, I would def. buy it for that price, and so would many other people here.

About the sr thing, any 240 is a good platform, but don't forget you can also always turbo the motor in the car now.

Good deal indeed. Yeah, you should also think about turbo'ing that KA that's already in there. Tons o' fun and tons o' torque. :D

Sounds good, the 96's front grill looks better than the 95's does. i have the exact same miles on my 96 240 and i still cant decide whether to go sr or ka-t.

Come to the March 8th Bowling Green meet....that may help you decide. There will be alot of people there with knowledge and opinions and hopefully more than a couple of KA-T, SRs, and even CAs.

If you can't see that the car has been wrecked then I would say go for it. As far as the SR swap, I would definetely look into emissions in your area. I'm not real sure about Florida's standards, but if they start doing OBDII testing you're pretty screwed.

Floridas standards? We have standards, where? hehe

There arent any smog testing or anything of the likes here in this great state so I wouldnt worry about it.

And SR it, as its always good to have KA's for sale locally :)

Yep, if there are no standards and none in the works, I would definetely SR it. I can't wait til mine gets here, it makes me all tingly inside just thinking about it. As far as local motors go, looks like I'll be in Orlando soon picking up some parts.

Well guys I drove the car yesterday and it pulls really hard! I drove when the salesman wasn't in the car and I spun the tires quite a bit. It's got a strong engine, but the tires are probably H rated. I'll need to change them if I want to do some serious driving. I was sliding quite a bit without even getting on the throttle. My next step is to take the car to my mechanic and have him look at it. I thought I heard the power steering whining as I was bringing it back. I also slid while stopping so I'll want him to check the ABS that the car is supposed to have. Let me know if you guys want to see some pics! The car is on ebay!

Let me know what you guys think of the way it looks. It says it's blue, but it looks a bit purple in actuality.

man, those things are so hard to find that I would probably jump on it also. btw, what year did they become obdII? I am also looking for a 240 and planning for the swap, but I have enough trouble with the fuzz as it is. I want to get an s14 for the swap. can you do obdII to obdI swap in a 97+?

Hey guys...the deal just got sweeter! I took it to the mechanic...who doesn't like Nissans btw. He found some things here and there and wrote me up a quote. I'll have him to the repair work...leaky RR brake caliper, oil pan gasket needs to be replaced, etc. The guys that I'm buying it from are puttin on a full cat-back exhaust(2.5" mandrel) and a clifford alarm(concept 20 or better) all for the same price!

Pretty sweet huh?

My mechanic doesn't think I should get the car, but he doesn't know how rare these things are! He's a good mechanic, but everyone has their biases...it's important to keep that in mind.

I drove the car around all day pretty much and it has some STRONG acceleration! I don't really like the color, my date said it was blue, but the mechanic said it was definately purple.

Oh and did I mention that it has leather interior? I plan to seal the deal tomorrow.

Only bad thing is that I accidently left with the only copy of the key they have for the car. So it had to sit outside instead of being put in the garage with the other cars! :thinker

I have to go there first thing in the morning and take it back...hope nothing happens to the car in the mean time!!

But just to summarize...everyone thinks that's a good price for the car right? I mean and now with a full catback exhaust and an alarm...sounds like a good deal right??
