hi guys, i am about to buy a 98 240 SE and wanted to know if there are any revealing indicators to be on the lookout for. ideally since i am financing this thing i would like to avoid getting one that needs major repair work before i finish paying it off.by the way it has about 50k on it and is going for just under 10 grand but i am going to try and talk them down, obviously. does that seem like a decent price? anyway i have to drive about 30 miles to look at so i am going to do it early next week. thanks in advance. --matt

That is a great price!Listen for a ticking and rattling sound comming from the front of the valve cover.....the timing chain on these cars can go out and if they do........bye bye motor!

Other than that, just test the transmission, synchros are'nt very fun in the car too.

Good luck!
