I've been messin with my timing for quite a while now. I have no problem getting my timing set with all my gear marks and chain marks matching up while the motor is at tdc but then once i start to rotate the motor everything gets off, and the closes it seems to get is within one tooth for the top gears and like 4 or 5 for the bottom gears this doesn't make any sense to me can someone help me here? I wanna do this right while the motors on the stand. also correct me if i read this wrong but the fsm also said that i need to torque the bolts that hold the cam gears on to like 123-130 ft. ibs. is that correct just seems like alot and i deff. dont wanna break something. Okay please help me I'd really appreciate it.

hey, i had the same problem when installing my Brian Crower stage 3 cams. i ended up haveing to take out the dis. and i made the mistake of rotating my motor a couple of times to make sure everything was good to go. BUT (from experience lol) you have to turn the motor over a ton of more times to get those marks lined back up. you should be ok because your motor is out of the car. trust me, i thought i broke it but it eventually lined back up. And yes you have to tighten the bolts to that, it didnt seem right to me to, and i was sweating bullets, lol. but they didnt break. so hope this helped ya out and good luck!

Thanks man thats what i needed to hear just for the assurance ya i had a feeling i'd have to turn it a whole lot more to get the marks to all line up again. I ended up just takin it all off and putting it all back which is easy now since it did it three times. Once i got it all back in i put the distributor just so i could be sure i had it right. I torqued those cam gear bolts too that took some strength deff. didnt thing theyd need all that. Now i just gotta figure out my intake mani and all that mess i dread it.

yea i had to take the head off to install the cams, removed the top half of the intake mani. accidentally broke some emissions stuff so i removed all but the IACV. it looks a lot better now and way easier to get back there for anything ! if that is what you want to do there is a writeup on here some where i cant remember where, but it pretty much explains everything.
