Trust me, this procedure is pretty standard in any GI lab. If she needs anything, they will just give her a short acting benzo for sedation and she won't remember a thing. the benzos cause retrograde amnesia. She most likely will have a sore throat, so she can either take over the counter benzocaine (Cepastat) lozenges to help with that, or just sucking on ice for a cooling effect. Oh or Chloraseptic throat spray helps also. These procedures are so common these days, nothing usually goes wrong. If she goes home and starts to have a fever, or vomits blood then go back to the hospital right away, other than that, no sweat.
