-- Wow Yoda ,140? I dunno... I've seen 130ish, you'd need alot of road. Guess you've got that down in Texas...or were you on a track? Either way, if you aren't embellishing, that's impressive.

Looking back, it was one of the most stupid things I've ever done and I am embarrassed to even tell anyone (wife, family, etc.), but I think some J30s just have it. My 97' with 128k max out at 142 a couple years ago. It drove straight as an arrow and had new brakes. Though touching of the brakes or steering at that speed was pure chaos.

I had a very long stretch , but it actually got there pretty quick !!PLEASE note that I had just got a set of V rated goodyears a few days before .DO NOT try to hit top speed in a car if you dont have the proper speed rated tires. Its Russian roulette if you try to hit top speed on cheapo tires.Imagine a tire coming apart at 130. Not a pretty sight.

I hear you on the new (proper rated) tires...Mom had just bought new ones when I borrowed it.
It went to around 140 when I let off b/c my passengers were white knucking the roof handles. I didnt want to scare them any further. And it did take a good stretch of road after 130.

Not on the streets, bud. Save it for the track. Trust me, you'll be better off that way.
& another thing: I wouldn't race in your J30 until I was 100% sure about its condition & that I knew the car in & out. I didn't start racing my Civic until a year after I bought it. I spent that 1st year getting used to the car, doing research, etc. Not to down your J, but knowledge is important & not just raw speed alone.
